Getting Frustrated

So this is the issue with a car that everyone wants and there is a supply shortage.

I placed the order in last week but my MA can't place the order into the system until their Tech Package allocations come in. Of course that information hasn't been released so, he doesn't know when that will be.

The funny thing is i also tried to put more money down, and he refused stating he didn't want to take my money until he could place the order (he did take my order and a deposit). I found that to be pretty nice and straightforward...at the same time puzzled that a car dealership wouldn't take my money

Regardless, i really hope my CMs4 comes in by the end of the year.

It was exactly 8 weeks for us for my 2011 CM4 using a dealer allocated slot with my specified options applied.

Blah...that's my only response. If that's the same for me i'm looking at November for CMs4....hopefully living on the east coast will drop it a week to around 7.

The funny thing is, i kept telling myself "oh you can wait, no biggy" I don't think being on this forum with all those discussions and pics help

We ordered without any supply issues earlier this year with an existing slot and we took delivery at 91 days.

I'd feel sorry for you, but I'll be close to 130 days by the time I take delivery.

Waiting stinks. This place makes the anticipation worse!

It took four months from the time I ordered to the time I took delivery of my MCS in late 2008.

You can wait. It will be sooooo worth it.

EDIT: I ordered around July 3rd and took delivery on November 8th.

130 days makes sense for ordering a 2012 model in early 2011. I mean production didn't start for 2012 until last month.

My MA said it will be in by the end of the year so at least i got that going for me...well he said he "thinks"

In my experience, when I got my production number that meant I had been assigned a scheduled slot in the production flow. With that number you can find out when the car is scheduled to be built, what its status is while building, and when it's finished. Also, starting with that production number, depending on how far out the scheduled build date is, you can get the VIN for your car.

SAWEET, do you know how long it usually takes after getting that number? It would be great if there was some stats on it

If you haven't yet, you can now call 1-866-ASK-MINI to get your production week.

I would have gotten a 2011 back then if the options I wanted were available. Kinda like the bench seat now, couldn't get nav or auto tranny until orders went through in late June!

Hang in there...

what a tease, "your vehicle is schedule for production with no production date"

Regarding Order # to Production #, i can't help you there. I did place my order last Wednesday and received my production number today.

Of course i aggressively called and called and called my MA over and over again. Heck he called me today on his day off, probably to make sure i wasn't stalking him

Many reasons why you get a production number before the vehicle is actually produced.
1. Your accessories ordered
2. color, if it is not a popular one, they wait until there are enough of them to justify a production run. for example I ordered Light Coffee I had a production number on July 20 and it was not finished until Aug 19th. BTW it just arrived at the port yesterday.
Just be patient, we all have been.

Mine was produced in about 10 days, but now it's been sitting at the port waiting for a shipping vessel since 9/15.....

Mine made it to the port on the 22nd. I noticed the Elektra is scheduled to depart Bremerhaven on the 28th, I'm hoping it'll make it onboard.

I know this will make me look dumb, our car was completed on 9-21-11.
I have tried some of the links for finding our ship. But no luck, most of the links for some of the shipping lines don't work, or say not found. When I search by my Vin #. When I did this for my JCW in 2009 it did not seem to be this hard. HELP!!!

I don't know exactly at what point the VIN enters the WW system, but I seem to remember from my last MINI purchase that it wasn't until it was on board. I looked at the WW shipping schedule by using the search by port option and entering Bremerhaven as the origin port and (in my case) Brunswick, GA as the destination port. It will then give you all the upcoming ships and voyages for those ports.

My CM was done 9/9. My MA told me it's now on the Asian King, which departed Bremerhaven 9/24 -- so approx two weeks from completion to departure. I can see the Asian King moored off of Portsmouth UK right now, but my VIN still isn't showing up on the WW site.

I don't know what the OP is whining about. The early purchasers, back in 2002, when you wanted a car built to your specifications you could wait 8 months or more, depending upon colors and specifications.
