Hitch Installed

Continuing my mods on Norman (as well as blogging about those mods), I just finished up installing the MiniDoMore hitch.

Looking at that pic, it seems Norman needs a bit of cleaning.

My blog post can be found here.

Looks great and you're not to far from me in Aurora!! I've tried to shop around town for local install shops, but haven't gotten too far. I'm not bad with a wrench as I've rebuilt stripped down carbs on my bikes - would you rate this pretty straight forward? Looks like it from the 6 steps, I'd just be concerned about ruining the finish or popping a fastener somewhere.

I'm definitely not handy with cars (I mostly work on bikes), and even less on things that are supposed to be pretty. I'd say that if my car survived me pulling off the bumper and reinstalling with no added dings (other than the large hole I purposefully cut), than others can likely get through this easily. Honestly, the hardest part I had was with the felt in the wheel well (there's a pop rivet and the very bottom that holds the bumper to a frame connection and as far as I know that pop rivet doesn't come out without destroying it). I thought about having someone do it, but decided I might as well get my hands dirty.

threar, nicely done! Off topic... I saw on your blog the current mods and was wondering what a NCS Expert Mod means and how the Passenger Seat Belt Chime is disabled? Also congrats on getting to live in Boulder, best city I ever lived in. My brother is still there, lucky dog....

Have a look over here at GeoffreyM's post about NCS Expert. My car's set up now to disable any gongs that have to do with the passenger seat's seat belt (my +1 doesn't always remember the seat belt at the beginning of the ride, and the annoying reminder alert didn't really motivate).

Now that I've got the hitch, it's time to think about what to connect to it. Found TowMini has some interesting options. I'm liking the idea of an all aluminum trailer.

From their website:

Did you cut a larger access hole than recommended? I'm just wondering why it's not in the same position as I've seen previously (inside the license plate mount). Or perhaps the specifications of the MiniDoMore product has changed...?

I went with the 2.5" diameter hole saw (I wanted a little bit extra clearance); they say to use between 2 to 2.5. Likely they used the 2" (I see in their instructions they barely touched the license plate holder).
