Anyone have any information on what the premium options are that MINI USA News (http://www.miniusanews.com/web/model...an&pageNumber=) calls out? I may be interested in things like the leather wrapped instrument panel or the wheels or Soda leather. Anyone got any info?

Equipment / Technology Changes Versus 2011MY Vehicles
In regards to model year updates versus 2011, changes for the MINI Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman and Countryman models will be related to customization.
MINI Yours debuts in 2012MY, which is a more premium and very exclusive series of options from upholstery, interior surfaces and exterior colors that can be purchased as a package or as individual options. MINI Yours interior options include:

• An instrument panel covered in a smooth two-tone soft-touch leather that has exposed stitching
• Two-tone leather steering wheel
• The new MINI Yours 17” alloy wheel - on all Cooper and Cooper S models
• MINI Yours pattern “Soda” mirror caps, which have a three-dimensional effect
• MINI Yours Soda pattern Lounge Leather, where the unique Soda pattern appears on the sides of the backrests and headrests, and a contrasting black leather stripe runs down the middle of the seats and is offset with a premium piping

Cosmopolitan floormats will be standard on all MINI models sold in the US.
The model year 2012 John Cooper Works Hardtop and Convertible will be equipped standard with the JCW aero kit.

 

I was also curious about these features, but I'm guessing we won't see what they look like until MINI updates it's website for the 2012 offerings (which I imagine would be soon).

 

I came across this information (snip from document dated June 3 2011) and am not sure that MINI Yours will apply to R60 based on the omission of R60 from the header. But the MINI USA news site seems to indicate that it applies to all models. It probably won't be available since I want some of it!!


I hope that's the case because the Soda Lounge Leather is one that I will upgrade to from Polar Beige (so long as I get to see a picture of it first!) Looks like a light leather with a black racing stripe down the middle and a pattern on sides/back! Couple that with a leather wrapped instrument panel!

Also interesting is the statement for R60:
"R60 allocation for July production is not open as of yet because of a parts supply issue. We do not expect this to be more than a few weeks but the good news is that it will be worth it because for MY2012, we will see a few upgrades that improve occupant comfort and convenience."

I wonder if "improved comfort and convenience" includes usable cup holders and sun visors that actually shield glare from the sides! Can't wait to hear if I get to update my order to add the new MINI Yours options! Update the web site already!!!!

 

Okay, after watching this, I think I'll pass on the soda leather - not a fan of the sides/back. If just getting the stripe was an option, I'd be all over it! Not sure about the leather instrument panel either...

 

Thank you for the video post! Actually, I rather like the interior and leather designs; though I was expecting brown as indicative of the name "Soda," this I was certainly not expecting! I also really like the two-tone steering wheel. And please...don't get me started on the magnetic foil mirror caps...I would SO order those!

I watched it again and it's growing on me! You might be able to get the mirror caps separately to install on your CM! I do agree that they look sharp, and would go nicely with your CM's color! Post a pic when you get them!

Those new options look great, I like the thought of a higher-end set of interior options in addition to the stuff they have now...

I think a Pure Silver would look fantastic with those new southwesternish looking stripes/seats and the magnetic mirror caps. I don't know who is daring enough to order white leather seats though... Good luck keeping that clean!
