Temp fix for peeling trim?

Anyone come up with anything? I am not happy at going to the dealers and have the same crap put back on. I want to wait until they come up with a proper fix, seems pointless other wise.

That's a nice fix, although they don't have it for the R60 yet.

Alan, I wouldn't hold my breath for a proper fix, they've been using the same method since at least 2007 with the R56. It's also doesn't seem to be that wide spread of an issue.

Wonder what the % countryman suffering this. Perhaps a bad batch of tape. I will get it into the dealer, see what they say. I thought this was a new method for the countryman did not realise it was it was on all new mini's. My MA said he had never heard of this issue... mmmmmmmmm. Don't MA look at this site?

I don't think it was like this before. I have an 09 MCS and on the front on the hood, under the windshield a rock it the chrome and it dented it. If it was tape as it is now it would have started tearing.

Take a look at my gallery, I've got it on my CM. outmotoring, vinyl styles, and a few others have made it for the R60. That link I put up was for the CM. Good luck guys.

Mine too

I have it my CM too. Took delivery two Saturday's ago. Pointed it out to the SA but it was only showing up on the right rear trim piece. Now it bubbling up on every trim piece but the hood. Some are in the middle of the part. Curved pieces have it starting in the middle. Stright pieces like on the doors are on the ends. Also it seems as though the chrome is cut too short.

MINI USA...here is an idea for this...use the same "chrome" colored plastic that you use on the headlight and tailight rings....no tape, just silver colored plastic.....easy!
Now I know you guys are thinking that would just be more plastic trim to plasti dip(like i did to my headlight and tailight rings)...and you would be right, but it would definitely fix the peeling tape issue.
By the way, my 2009 Clubman did not have this "tape" on it......

I have a peeling loose piece on the back of my CM. I was wondering if it was only CMs with this problem? It looks like it shrank! I park my car in the shade of the carport next to my back door all the time.... so it should not be a sun/heat problem.... very disappointed with this new development. Other wise though, I am happy with the car.

While it has been extremely hot in the south, my CM is generally parked in the shade. However, there are times when it is parked in the direct sunlight. I have two (2) pieces of chrome tape peeling and bubbling. One (1) is on the left rear quarter panel; it is separating in the curve and appears to have shrunk. The other piece is on the bonnet's upper area near the windshield; it appears to be shrinking and has gaps on both ends. I have emailed my MA and he replied that it would be fixed. Like others, I am disappointed in the quality of the trim; particularly since this seemed to be a known problem. Other than the trim, the vehicle is fun and I am happy with it. Just hoping a permanent fix will come soon.

I took delivery of my CM in April after having it ordered since February...no tape issues(fingers crossed), but the other thing I have noticed in this thread is that it appears to be happening to CMS's...weird.....Not sure if the heat has any affect on it as I am in Dallas where our average temp is 98-102 daily.....

No I'm pretty sure it's the same (feels that way), it would certainly dent before it tears if hit by a rock.

How easy was the install? Any other places have more colors than Red or Black?
