Unhappy Peeling Trim

I am also inflicted with the peeling trim on the boot. Mine looks more like it is stretching rather peeling. Either way not very good. As another poster stated it looks like it is chrome tape rather than a chrome strip. I really hope MINI step up and do a recall on this. I would suspect over time this will be a real issue.

I called mini and filed a formal complaint on the trim. Maybe if enough of us do that they will recall it and develop a proper piece. I am getting 5 strips replaced on mine and I haven't even had 1-month yet

Call the Ask Mini number and file a formal complaint directly with them.

Just a regular consumer complaint should do, since I don't think peeling trim is a criminal (penal) offense. Although it probably should be!

It really should be a crime selling a brand new car with cheap poorly designed materials like this.

They'll never do a recall for that, not a safety issue. Also look at how many hood scoops have melted on the 2nd Gen Mini S and still no recall, they just keep replacing them until the warranty is over and then you have to pay for further replacements. That cheap plastic chrome has always reminded me of the cheap stuff GM used on their cars in the 70s... A shame for a car of this price and coming from BMW.

Maybe not a recall, but the parts should be re-engineered and for owners that have the problem of peeling they should be replaced with the new design.
