Headlight Washer/Sprayer?

I was checking out the headlamps on my CM4 and it looks like they have a water sprayer on them. I was reading the manual and it does say there are washers but with and astrick. It says to activate them you pull the level to position 4 (toward you). Anyways that didn't seem to work, any idea on what option you need to have this work? or when it works?

If you want to know if you have this function, wash your windshield with the headlights on - the headlights get washed, too.

I think it requires the heated powerfold mirrors and washer jets option.

Lights have to be on for it to work if you have it installed.

I know in some cars I've had in the past, the lights had to be on and the car needed to be moving (I think I even remember it had to be over 10 mph or something). I also believe this is a required feature (the headlight washers) for any car featuring xenons.

Add to that a lot of cars do it every 3-5 windshield washes, not every single time.

As the Judges mentioned, it is required item if you get Xenons headlamps. So to make them work, try the steps below...

1. Turn on your Xenons (if you don't have them stop here).
2. Pull the wiper arm to turn on the washers, givem a good 2 or 3 second squirt.
3. Look and listen, over the sound of the wipers you should hear the squirters on the headlamps and even see a swoosh of mist up of the bonnet.
4. Now that you have done it, find someone else to sit in the passenger seat and repeat at step 2 while you stand in front of your MINI to watch it happen!! Careful though, it may remind you of a scene from Aliens.

Good luck...

I've done mine at a stop, so you don't have to be moving. And if you're at a stop, it should be pretty obvious. When I do mine, the jets on the lamps create this huge cloud of misted washer fluid. It's a little absurd, actually.

My experience has been that the headlamp washers only activate every third time you pull the washer stalk.

I'm with you there lol. I activated it on the freeway and almost flipped out because I didn't think I had them. Got home, did it again. But when my boyfriend got out to watch it, it refused to do it the next three times. I was like alright, I'm done wasting fluid :P

The headlamp washer system always comes on with the first pull of the wiper stalk. After that, it's every 5 times or so.

If you want to show somebody, just turn off your car and on again, then pull the wiper stalk. It will work again (as long as headlamps are on).

my car is a 2014 S and it came with the regular halogens (without washers).

Since then, I've purchased and installed the bixenon headlights like what ECS sells:

https://www.ecstuning.com/News/MINI_...012_2013_2014/

My question is: do you know if my car can utilize the washers in them now? or do they not function since my car never included that feature in the first place?

They are dummy covers and jets to keep the look, the car never came with them stock with halogens. Let me know if you need anything else.
