Stubby Antenna

Need to find out more about these. Will they be compatible with GPS and Serius? And, what brand do you recommend and where can I buy?

There is a mini brand stubby and it is compatible with all options. I believe there are some people on here who have it and have reported no ill effects with GPS or sat radio.

Looks good, works like a charm, and I have Sirius radio.

When I'm carrying my kayak I don't have the antenna on at all. Sat radio works, as well as, most FM and HD stations. Gps is on the Droid.

I just received this little guy and it works great. A definite upgrade. Thanks for the heads-up.

I plan on stopping by Alta here on Friday to grab their stubby antenna.
Good excuse to see what they're up to and maybe see if there's anything on the plans for the R60.

I ordered one from Coopersport for my Clubman. When I swapped the Clubman for a Countryman, I moved that same antenna over.

4", simple design, blends right in and looks great!

I ended up buying two. I couldn't wait for the one I ordered from Craven so I went to the Stealership. It's a lot lighter and is different. The second one from Craven is made of metal and thicker. I figured just in case someone decides to permanently borrow mine I'll have a spare

Has anyone else had problems replacing their antenna?
I picked up mine earlier this morning and it seems like the screw size is slightly different from what must have been working on the R56.
Maybe it's just a change with recent production models, or the specific model I chose, or it could just be me.
The new stubby feels like it's just slightly too big to catch correctly.

I've read that the screw/post diameter changed from the Gen 1 cars (R50, R52, R53) to the Gen 2 cars (R55, R56, R57). Speaking from experience I had to swap the post to a narrower one going from an R55 Clubman to an R60 Countryman.

Most aftermarket antennas come with more than one post I believe (at least the one I got from CooperSport does)...

I bought mine from the dealership (first day owner, didn't know any better ) and it came with multiple changeable screw posts. I *did* have to change it to fit my R56 properly.

The antenna diameter is more like the BMW...it's smaller than the GEN2's.

Thanks for all the confirmation.
I think this will just end up being gifted to one of my friends then with a second gen instead. No swap-able posts.
While I'm sure I could return it without any problem I'll just try another vendor or pass a note along to Alta so they can think about making a new size for the CM.

Did anyone get the antenna "Ball" from MINI? I spray painted it red and glued a sawed off bolt into it. It is my antenna now when I haul the kayak on the roof.

Spray painted the "Jack-n-the-Box" head black and popped it onto the regular antenna. The "black jack" goes with the mirror and sunroof graphics.

that is really 'stubby'! it looks like a nipple!

BTW it is my understanding that Sat/GPS is governed by the 'shark fin'/'pod' portion of the antenna assembly unit, and long antenna is only for radio reception.

Around Houston most stations work fine with no antenna at all. Sat doesn't need the antenna.

I got a generic cheapo one on eBay that was only 3.8". Came with 4 or 5 different size screws. Only set me back $12 after shipping.

Works great with GPS and Sirius.
