R60 Satellite Radio Issues
Satellite Radio Issues
Has anyone else been having problems with their satellite radio? It was working great the first week I had it, but then I was driving down the road a few days ago and it stopped playing the program I was listening to. I looked at the radio and it said "Call to Subscribe." I talked to my MA, and he told me I had to enter in the ESN number on the Sirius website. I did this, but when I put in the ESN, it said the number wasn't found in their system. I also tried entering my VIN (since this was an alternate method of giving them my information), but it said the same thing. I called my MA and he said he'd have to talk to someone else and he'd get back to me. That was three days ago, still haven't heard anything, I've tried contacting him, but I haven't received a reply. Has anyone else run into something like this? Obviously it's not a huge deal, but it is annoying.
Had the same thing happen this week to me. Radio said I needed to subscribe after working fine for weeks. Went to the below url on Sirius' website and entered the ESN. Radio was working again about 5 minutes later.

Asked my MA if it was common to have to reset the satellite radio and he said no...probably just a fluke.

There is a two or three week trial with a certain amount of stations. It will expire if you do not activate. I did so within a week and found i had loads more stations. Could this be why it worked for a certain period of time.
We had trouble too. Initially, we had only the demo programming on Sirius when the car was delivered. We tried the Sirius website to activate and got the error message the that car's numbers (ESN and VIN) were not in the system. We called Sirius directly and were told MINI needs to contact Sirius to sort it out. We figured MINI was behind in paying for their activations! It took a couple of days, but the MA finally got it activated for us. We have had no trouble since (about 3 weeks now).
Yes, same issue. Sirius is apparently incompetent.
Same on my 2010 MCC S. Six months into the one year trial period. Apparently they changed the program line up a few weeks back. I called them and didn't get much help. On my own I realized the stations actually still worked, but the pre sets were now screwed up and caused that message to appear about needing to call to subscribe. Once I set the presets again, issue solved. Still need to repeat the same drill w/ the other key given pre sets are tied to each key.
Thank you (not) Sirius for wasting my time. Since the sound quality compared to a iPod is also lousy, I don't expect to pay money for this when the time comes. Customer service and quality both wanting in my book.

Having same issues with my newly delivered '11 JCW. Got car on Monday. Called Sirius on Tues to activate. They got my info. Tried 3 different times no luck. Went on line today and I have an account--no radio signal. Called -went thru their trouble shooting--still no signal. Called MA. PIA for something so simple. Nick

We finally got it resolved yesterday. I talked to my MA several times, he talked to a few people, we tried going through the Sirius website and their phone numbers, but no luck. Yesterday we decided to call Sirius again and the radio started working almost immediately. WTH? So annoying, but at least it's working now.
There are issues with the Radio/Sat system, I am actually at the dealership now having the module replaced. Mine is not a subscription issue which is what it reads like many have mentioned. Mine is an actual failure of the system to aquire the signal, that is actually displayed, "aquiring signal", and it is random at power up. I have an early car which complicates things a bit, what MINI/BMW says is there...well, not always. The module was replaced after a 3 hr job, powered up and ... dead. emails back and forth to MINI and another attempt will soon be made. Seems that the car needs to sleep for 30 minutes. You power down, after about 15 minutes the electronics start to power down, as do our computers which is what we are driving. The tech will enter more codes and hopefully everything will work. Ah Well, the joys of 1st model sorting!
But it is a MINI and life is still good!

Our Sirius radio stopped working after it had worked for several weeks. We called Sirius, and they asked us to have the radio turned on at a prescribed time so they could "send a signal". We did, and a couple minutes after the appointed time, the Sirius stations came back on. Weird.
