Pet Peave

[IMG][/IMG]

I really would like to be able to configure the center window that shows the speed to something other than how fast the car is going. It is redundant to the center pie plate speedo.

What I would like to have showing is the time and perhaps outside temperature. I might be wrong, but I think my 2008 MC showed different user-selected data in this spot.

Can this be done, or will it need a Mini software update to accomplish?

The 2007-2010 Mini's showed Time and Temp when you were on a different screen other than MPH. I honestly prefer the digital speed instead of looking at the needle.

I prefer the digital speed also. I would be fine if the big speedometer was replaced with some useful gauges.

Oops. What happened to my spell checker? I guess I'm a product of the California public school system.

I guess my point was to retain the option and ability to configure this to one's preference. There are times when I am using navigation with expected time of arrival and no where (other on my wrist) is there a clock showing. When driving at night, as I do, it becomes an effort to pull up my shirt sleeve and see the time.

Clock is on the Radio bar

The Time is on my radio bar in the center Speedometer on my 2009.

This picture illustrates what I am referring to. The navigation screen shows an upcomming waypoint in the nav route. No where is the actual time showing. Only the expected time of arrival. The time will show at the top of information segment, but it doesn't stay there.

This is my pet peeve (spelling corrected, thanks). I'd like to be able to configure the readout.

if the NAV is showing a waypoint, it hides the time.

If the NAV is not showing a waypoint (i.e. you don't need to turn), the current time is displayed at the top of the green box on the right hand side.

... as an aside, I find the speedo-around-the-NAV-screen utterly and completely useless. It's pretty, though.

My sentiments, exactly, on the speedo. Especially since it doesn't record the correct speed over ground. Need GPS for that.

Thats only because your being notified of an up coming turn, when its not it says the current time at the top of the black box where the ETA is.

You are not wrong. Out 2008 MC did allow you to change it but in my 2011 MCS you can only change the area below the speedo.

To help the OP - go check the R56/57 gen 2 forum, under how to electrical. There are threads about MCS expert. Perhaps you can, or find someone to, change it yourself. It's a toggle flag in the config - many in pre 2011 cars are turning it on to have permanent speedo display, though no reason why you couldn't do the reverse.

Cheers
