R60 2012 Countryman Orders already?!
2012 Countryman Orders already?!
So long story short. My wife went in to order her Countryman today and got told that all of the 2011's have been sold and her build will be a 2012 model
(I think). Hopefully she can get that bench seat that will be available shortly. Has anyone else experienced this?
They won't start being built till September, usually orders start July, but I guess they can take them whenever they want, they just won't know the specifics and exact price.
Neither did I but that's what the rep at the dealer told us. I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out
. Hopefully there won't be a drastic difference in pricing
. I will post updates as they come

We went through Pentagon as well. Our salesman told us about three weeks ago if we didn't get the order in that week that we would have to wait until September for it to be built and that it would be a 2012 model. We went ahead and ordered so that we would get it faster and not pay more. He also told us if we waited for a 2012 model we should expect a 5% increase in price! That is was really pushed us to get the 2011 model. I suspect Pentagon has used up their allotment of 2011 Countryman slots.

I ordered mine on 4/30, and just got this from my MA last night:
What gives? How do I go from "probably the end of June or early July" to two months later than that?
Your Countryman may end up being a 2012. MINI sent a bulletin out on Friday. We are waiting for more info from MINI USA. This is all I can tell you for now until we have further updated info from MINI.
Tippykayak,
Your plight seems to be far worse than mine. At least my car was built, and is awaiting transport. In your case, you order a car. The dealer tells you an approx. delivery period. You begin the wait...They fail to communicate to you, and then, a week later, they tell you you might not get the vehicle for an extended period, and potentially at a higher price. Pardon my french, but that sucks. However, I think you have some pretty good negotiating leverage with your dealer. They gave you a price, and a delivery date (approx.) They did not live up to their end of the bargain. I think you need to ask if the car is worth the headaches. If you believe it is, then, at a minimum, you should be able to purchase the 2012 model at the current agreed upon price. If they tell you the price is higher, I would walk away, and get your deposit returned.
There are a lot of good vehicles out there, and a lot of dealers willing to go the extra mile to earn your business. Let's see if your Mini dealer is one of them.
Good luck.

Did you get a production number before they told you this?

I do really love the car, but there are two other MINI dealers in reasonable driving distance from my house, and if I'm waiting until the 2012 model year anyway, they'll need to incentivize a bit to keep me from walking away and working with somebody else. I'm absolutely entitled to my deposit back, both because of the way CT law works on deposits and because they can no longer sell me the car I put the deposit on anyway.
Communication has been poor so far, but I really liked the guy in person and found that he was very willing to give me his time and make sure I got a chance to get every single question answered and every single option looked at. He was also very low-pressure in talking about options and I felt quite happy in general.
So I'm willing to give him a few more chances to make a deal I can be happy with before I walk to somebody else, but I'm definitely willing to walk. No matter how much I like the car, I'm not willing to be dicked around with over it.
Nope. Just placed the order on Saturday with the understanding that they'd know their allocations on Wednesday, didn't get contacted until Wednesday night after I e-mailed to check what was going on. Then didn't hear anything until Sunday night after I e-mailed again to see what was going on, even though he said he'd check back on Thursday.

Here's the thing. How did they go from one slot left in June that the person before me took to no slots until September (assuming that's the first month of 2012 production)? Where did July and August go?
Well it's good to hear that I am not the only one having this problem
. All jokes aside though I am a little T'd off by this because my wife is currently driving my 2011 JCW hardtop in Germany (good for her, muy malo for me
). I thought I would be getting my baby back here in the states by this summer but now it looks like I won't see her until the fall when all the rain comes back to WA
. Best of luck to everyone out there who recently had their orders pushed back. I am feelin' the pain too but I am tryin' my best to play it
LOL!

Great to hear! If you don't mind, post when you go into production. I am sitting at "on order" currently.
I would think (hope) that with a production number you have a better chance of getting a 2011 build. I know a few have had hold ups due to the connect/nav issue, and there still is the looming concern about parts from Japan. But I will keep my fingers crossed.
I still am on "on order," but it sounds like a number of people are moving into production, so I am very hopeful that within the next week I will too will be there.
Thank you very much for the udpate.
