R60 New Countryman?
New Countryman?
New to the forum...hello.
My wife is begging me for a Countryman...but when I went to my local Stealer (Tom Bush/Jax, FL) the putz salesman said they are not discounting automatics as they are limited. I proceeded to tell him that there are only two things I pay sticker price for: hookers and Ferrari's.. Otherwise deals off...
Can anyone confirm that Stealers are not discounting autos before I waste more time at another stealer?

Every area seems to be a bit different. Will no doubt depend on in you have another Mini dealer nearby. Of course, Nearby is variable. I had 2 that were about 230 miles apart...one willing to deal, another not. YMMV.
Good luck!
Good luck!
And if you are haggling over the price of MINI, then I doubt you can purchase the Italian stallion either.....
I went to a Subaru Dealer 5 years ago. They weren't discounting. GF went to purchase a new Zion XB in 2006 and they weren't offering discounts either..... But I never looked at it as "stealing" though because it's called capitalism dploy.
Cap·i·talism/ˈkapətlˌizəm/
Noun: An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit
If you want something some one else took the time to design and make, you are most likely going to have to pay for it some way or another.
I have yet to meet anyone that has gotten something as expensive as the auto transmission knocked off. Most dealerships don't discount but the ones that do will probably either just add some floor mats or knock off a couple of hundred. Good luck though, and please let us know the outcome.

You call the salesman a putz for answering your question.
Then you tell him, that for the car you are getting for your wife, you expect a discount because a car is not a "hooker" which you put much more value on.
I have to say, you are the type of vermin the salesperson would love to show the door. And your wife should as well.

In think the kid gloves need to come off with regard to naming dealerships.
I live in NYC, and will never buy any car from a dealer in the area, because folks either have too much disposable cash or folks don't take the time to shop beyond city limits. Mini of Manhattan has nice folks there, but they never come off MSRP unless they have stock on hand that they want to move at the end of the year.
In the beginning of the year I got the "only selling sticker line" from everyone. By the end of March early April, Westchester Mini and Habberstadt were discounting from $750 to $1000 off msrp on a Countryman S. I ordered a stick as I prefer to driver rather than steer, but the sales folks didn't seem care whether it was manual or automatic.
Discount aside, the dealers seem to be pretty confident that they can get some of it back with the wheel & tire warranty. On my '08 MCS, I paid $350 for a 3 year warranty on the run flats only. Now they want to charge $950 on a wheel & tire for 3 years and claim its the only plan they have now. Still trying to decide what o do, as my car is going thru dealer prep now...

It truly depends on where you are.
Do some search on this forum. There are good amount of information on how/where to buy Countryman at below MSRP.
Also, make sure you attend MINI Rocks the Rivals for $1000 off in addition to your best negotiated price.

Here's an article I just stumbled upon that says a lot about the state of car buying:

Good article.
To the OP, you may have a very hard time finding a dealer that will discount. They will have no problem selling the Countryman to someone else at full MSRP if you don't buy it. Just the way it is with this model being so popular and automatics being in demand.

Got a new one for $500 over invoice...White w/brown int. Wasn't so hard.
It was funny how the salesman knocked the Countryman because it wasn't made in England - I asked him who cared; I don't.
The thing I didn't realize was how little a dealer makes per unit...they really aren't that profitable - almost a waste of time IMO.

Try these two sites for no haggle discounted pricing. Dont mess with a salesman or dealership directly. I have always gotten discounts this way and I have NEVER paid MSRP for any car.

You may have to go out of state for your purchase, like me. I just incorporate my car purchase into my vacation and/or business trip. I currently have $1500 off my Countryman S ALL4 from a Northern CA dealership.
