Load Floor Confusion

I am still puzzled about "Flat" load floor. The Countryman S (non All4) I test drove had a carpeted solid lid that covered (perfectly) a recessed storage compartment in the rear of the cargo area. This lid would swing up towards the back of the rear seats (and, if desired), lock "open" into place. There was no notation of the "Flat load floor" on the monroney sticker (as standard equipment or optional equipment). So, I ask, what is this "Flat load floor" option or accessory everyone is refering to? Photos would be most appreciated of the standard condition and optional or accessory part(s).
Also, because the All4 has a different "Rear" end (All Wheel Drive Driveline) does this somehow encroach into cargo space/load floor?
Thanks

There is a lengthly thread on this, some where. But the $250.00 load floor option is another lid the fits over that recessed hole in he trunk while the piece you described is in the up position. If I remember correctly. The option is hard to come by any way, it was deleted from my order and many others.

I'll be one of the ones waiting for the flat load floor. I've go a bunch of furry children - with the split rear seat I'll need the standard floor up to block them from the seats and the flat load floor so they're not tearing up whatever I have hidden in the well.

It was deleted from my order too, they said it would be available in March as an accessory

Yes, ours was deleted from our order too and our car was produced in November. I told my MA that we want to be notified as soon as they are available.

You are correct about the flat load floor.
Many have seen the standard floor in the down position...once it's placed in the upright position you now have the well exposed. With the flat load floor, the well will be covered all of the time and you have the other piece blocking the view between the seat backs.
Now when you put both seat backs down, you can then flip the upright piece on top of the seat backs to create a solid area. This in combination with the flat load floor creates a large area to haul things.

OK, starting to get it, (I think! ) Now, when the "Flat load floor" accessory lid or tray cover (when it finally becomes available!) is in place covering the recessed cargo well, does the carpeted standard equipment attched lid cover the "Flat load floor" accessory cover? (i.e. are there essentially now two lids covering the recessed well?)

You would keep the included cover in the upright position and put the other option on the recessed hole.

No, as less2 stated, you would put the standard floor in the upright position right behind the seat backs and the flat load floor would cover the well.

I am thankful for the other members describing this option again. The last thread on the topic just about wore me out.

And for the record, my Flat Load Floor option was also deleted from my November build and now I am not sure that I even want it.

I'm starting to think you can use the supplied "flat floor cover" as a template to cut out a second cover. Glue black carpet to that and save a bundle with the same results. In a couple of days I can test the theory.
