Greetings all! New member, wife's car. We bought a 2k6 Cooper S Pepper White/black top last June and I came here to see what can be done about the brake dust that won't come off the cooper stock rims. Saw a few helpful posts and may try the "simply green" as suggested.

Welcome to NAM!! Simple Green works great to get the wheels clean but I doubt it would keep the brake dust down. Happy motoring!!!

Giving them a good thorough cleaning with a wheel cleaner that's safe, then following up with a good wax will help them stay cleaner a little longer, and makes it easier to wipe off. Brake pads standard on MINIs are horrible for brake dust... Other than that, welcome to the cult, er, I mean, family! :-)

As strange as this sounds, I have used Easy Off oven cleaner successfully in getting dust off that was literally bonded to the wheels of a 2003 Ford Van (aftermarket chrome plated)...

...but proceed at your own risk!

Thank you all for the welcomes and the tips. Going to try a few things and see what works. Actually, I'm hoping we put a lot of miles on the current tires -- This past October I bought a set of rims and snow tires *wasn't happy with how the all-season handled* and got a deal -- the tire place just happened to have a nice set of (near-new) John Cooper Werks rims (a snap to keep clean and better looking!). So, hoping to use those as the summer rims and used the stock for the winters.

Welcome to NAM. I have a 02 LY/W MC and my white wheels get totally filthy with road and brake dust. I've found that washing with dawn dishwashing soap helps keep the dust away for longer periods of time, it kind of slides off with a quick blast with a water hose. Hope that helps.
