I have a local seller willing to sell her 05 Cooper auto with 10k miles for $14,000 in excellent condition(includes some extras). According to KBB and edmounds this seems like a good deal and i was wondering what you guys thought about it.
It sounds like a great idea, ide be changing cars from a 2000 subaru impreza which ide sell for about the same price.
Also another question. KBB says around $18k if i was to sell the mini back to a dealer after buying it from her, would i be able to expect that if i was to do that?
Hello and thank you i look forward to more chats

Well, the base price for a new one is only a bit over 18k. Why not opt for a new R56? I was going to buy a used one, but once I noticed how well this car holds its value I decided to go with a new one, and I'm glad I did. The 2007 design is completely different and I like it a lot better (faster, and better MPG!).
Your actual price would depend on the options you want, naturally...
well my deal is the max money i have is $14,000 and i've taken a big intrest in minis lately. this is essentially what the seller listed as options
•Mileage: 10,000 miles
•Color: Black, Interior: Black Leatherette
•Auto Transmission
•Heated Washer Jets, Heated Mirrors, Heated Front Seats (great for winter!)
•Multifunction Steering Wheel w/ Cruise
•Performance Run-flat Tires
•Air-Conditioning with micro-filter, CD audio system, 6 speakers
•Remote keyless entry
Excellent condition.
hows this deal look to you guys? What do you think i would get resale at a dealer if i sold it to them once perchased privately?
NADA states
CLEAN TRADE IN 17,850 CLEAN RETAIL VALUE 20,400

As far as your question goes, it sounds like you might be confusing the Dealer resale price (the price you could buy the car used from a dealer) for the trade-in price (how much the dealer will offer you for your car). Trade-in values offered by dealers are generally much lower than what a private party seller can get selling the car on his/her own. Go back to KBB and run it through the trade in value to find out what the dealer might give you for it.
That said, I highly doubt that you could get $18k from a dealer on a car that is selling private party for $14k. I hope this helps!
If your budget is $14k, then it sounds like it's not too bad a deal, for an 05'. It's probably doubtful that you'll find anything better. Of course, I'd try and talk them down even more. Also, be sure to find out how much of a warranty is left on it.

The car's being sold at about $4k under kbb, so that sounds just a bit suspicious...I'd recommend taking time to get a Carfax report and maybe even getting a mechanic to take a look at the car for you. If it is in good/excellent condition with no shady history, you are getting an amazing deal, but it's good to be cautious when a deal looks too good to be true.
Also, don't forget that buying this car sidesteps taxes and all dealer/license/misc fees, which would have to be forked over if buying new. And, since depreciation is greatest in the first year, this deal allows you to forego these losses as well.

Welcome to NAMIt sounds like you wanna flip the MINI instead of actually buying it to own it. Why not ask the seller if you can take it for a test drive. Then test drive it on down to Carmax & get a buy appraisal from them
If the car is in excellent shape, then it sounds like an great deal. I traded in my 2005 automatic PW/B MC with 21,000 miles in Feb. and the dealer gave me $15,100 and I didn't have the MFSW with cruise. So if you can buy it privately for $14,000 and, as I said, it's in excellent shape, then I'd say it's a great deal.
Smart idea, that!
Welcome to NAM.
Welcome to NAM. Sounds like a nice deal to me. But I would definately ck it out. If not thru CARFAX, then at least ask a Mini service tech take a quick looky see. It might save you in the long run.
. What do you think a new 07 MCS would be?

First of all, I wouldn't buy an MC w. auto trans.
But if you want it, then definitley get the VIN and pay the $30 or whatever it is now to get the Carfax report.
Big difference between the MCS 02-06 supercharged and the 07 turbo. In the end it's all personal preference. Ain't it cool to live in a capitalistic economy?
