Just Ordered My First MINI
Just Ordered My First MINI
Hello Everyone! I'm Jessi and I'm fairly new to the world of MINIs. I fell for the first MINI I saw back in 2002 (I was 19)...one of my neighbors had a yellow cooper, the first one on the block. I drove a Celica back then...it was barbaric.
I'm currently living in Japan (3 years now) and I'm about to come home to San Diego this May. I just placed an order with Irvine MINI through Jessica. By the way, they rock! It took 1 phone call for my order to be placed and production number assigned.
I tried to place an order through Brecht MINI but it felt like I had to chase them around just to buy a car. Their MA, Liesha...or whatever her name was, was extremely rude and took her time when returning phone calls.
But anyway, Irvine made it better...I just have to drive an extra 40 miles to pick up my Mika....(yeah, she's already been named).
I'm not really into cars so I was planning on just purchasing a little cheap Toyota or Honda. However, for some odd reason, MINIs just make me smile. It's like having a Mac computer... it's either you love it, or you hate it. And when you love it, no matter its faults, you're going to work through it.
Anyway, this is getting a little long... but yeah, I'd like to thank all of you. I love reading the resources here and hopefully, I'll be able to contribute soon as well.

Welcome to NAM, Beatrix ! So, you're not a car person... you might become one now !
Couple of quick questions for you:
1. Moving from Japan to San Diego... in the Navy ?
2. Are you the anti-Christ ? (sorry, had to ask)
Couple of quick questions for you:
1. Moving from Japan to San Diego... in the Navy ?

1. Yes, I am in the Navy...stationed on the oldest comissioned ship in the fleet...the USS Kitty Hawk.
2. Well, being that I am stationed on a ship twice my age.... I can say that I've been through hell and back. My Mika (my new mini) is part of my: 'light in the end of the tunnel' package that I was promised after this tour ;p
Well...let's put it this way... My car costs just as much as most of you guy's option packages :p LOL
I bought a 2007 regular Coop with a manual tranny. The only options I had were the following:
-Chrome interior
-White interior lining.
I'm paying for a total of: $20,995....and she threw in some hundred dollar set of floor mats. Coz you know.... floor mats are important. I bet some of you guys paid just as much for your options alone!
Actually, my car was supposed to come up to $26,000 because they still charge $4,500 over the MSRP. But they sold it to me without it because of my military status ... Thank God they realize that we don't get paid very much.
Since my Mika is quite bare, I'll get to have some fun customizing it a little on a budget.... For instance, a weekend in Tijuana could buy me 20inch rims for about $200.... My Asian can hook me up with a graphic vinyl like on my pic bellow and some stripes and charge me $30 that includes installation.... And I can install some driving lights for about $50 off ebay. I mean....it DOESN'T have to ACTUALLY work, I just like the aesthetics of it ;p
