@#$%%# Glovebox

OK, I've had my Mini MCS DS/B for a month now and love driving it. It's so much fun and sticks to the road like it's glued on. But what's up with that glove box? Who thought of that? Every time I open it, it gets stuck on something trying to close it. Not like I keep it full of junk, pair of glasses, flash light, gloves, manual and some chap stick. Any one used the glove box organizer, and does it make any difference? Does the door get stuck on it too?

I've got the glove box organizer, but even with it, you have to watch where you put things. The inside lid of the glove box catches on items that are flat to the bottom of the glove box. I have gotten used to it, so I haven't done anything with it. Would be nice to eliminate the problem though.

Yes, you need a glovebox organizer...simple as that. It should come with every car.

The R56 seems less useful and very "plastic"

Because I spent a lot of time checking it out at the DC auto show.

I have a GoMiniGo glove box tidy, and it works very well.

That slot in the inside of the glovebox door is for things like sunglasses, and remember that the bottom of the glovebox is only about 6 or 8 inches deep, so anything you put in there larger than that, will cause problems.

I generally dislike anything added that becomes a crap-collecter, and try to keep what is in my car, to a minimum.

In the glovebox, is my Mini registration case, a small Maglite, and sometimes one or two maps. Attached to the GBT is an iPod dock. Anything more is just junk needing to be sorted and removed.

With as little as you say you have in there, you shouldn't be having any problems.

My wife gave me this one (organizer + iPid dockking station) for Christmas; it's great.

Nice thing about the GoMiniGo Glove Box Tidy, is that you can still store a couple cans of soda in the glovebox, and the cold air from the vent still circulates.

I also got the GoMINIgo Glovebox Tidy. It alone makes a big difference.
To hold smaller stuff (maglite, sunscreen, pen...) I made a small drawer that fit the lower right section of the GbT.

I don't have any problems with this. Now that I've heard about it, I wonder if I will.

I thought about it for a very short while but have too many time consuming hobbies. I made mine from a "Garage Sale" sign from Lowe's for a total cost of about $2.00. I made a few measurements, drew a pattern on the back of the sign, cut it out with tin snips, folded, riveted, painted and added some rubber shelf liner.
Here's a link to a drawing file I created in eMachineShop. You can download eMachineShop to view the file to see what the pattern looks like. Anyone who wants to copy and market it, feel free.

Hah, I can completely understand that! Thanks for the tips; I may give this a try myself...

If you're that worried about two pounds, I'd suggest a diet!
