Have 850 miles on new MINI, mileage ave 26.5
Hello all you Nam'rs!
I now have about 850 miles on the mcsc. According to the computer, I am averaging about 26.5 mpg (selectronic).
I have not checked it with pen & pencil but plan to do this at about 2000 miles. Question is: Will the mileage get better with some age?
Anyone with experience on checking their gas mileage that can let me know what to expect?
Thanks!

Sure, but do you "really care?'
It all depends on how you drive...are you "steady footed?" Mpg will undoudtedly get better with more motoring!!!! My 03 varies...depending on how much fun I'm having ...from 19mpg to 33 or 34! But just wait until it is broken in...take it easy for awhile. Welcome to "MINIING!"

Well, we're 11,000+ miles in on our 06 MCS (manual) and we average 26.5. This is a mix of city and highway driving, most of it relatively "spirited" as they say. Then again, when we compare it to the average speed (by the same computer), that figure is also in the mid twenties, so I think 26.5 MPG is reasonable given the trade offs in performance and the fun factor.
But you can definitely get 34+ on the highway. . . .
Enjoy.

8,200 miles, and I average 26.5 mpg for mixed driving. I drive rather "spiritedly" though on the freeway. I'm toning that down to get better mileage.
I always reset my computer after each fill up, and I still get 26.5 mpg. The best I've averaged on the computer was 30 mpg because I drove on a freeway the whole time on that tank of gas; however, my average speed was WELL ABOVE 70 mph.

On both my '02 MCS and my '06 MCS I have been pretty consistant in the MPG. My daily commute is only 4 miles, all secondary roads, with a weekly blast on the highway of about 70 miles. The fuel milage is about 23 - 24 mpg. I have a total of about 51,000 miles on both cars.
On a vacation trip with higher sustained speeds (mostly 60 mph), on fast secondary roads, and less stop & go, I was able to average 31.8 mpg over approximately 1005 miles.
On a trip of predominantly highway travel at 70+ speeds for 540 miles I saw a consistant 30.1 mpg.
These are all hand calculated with pen & paper.
The OBC is telling me that my mileage is just over 25 mpg.
