? about MINI Extended Warranty.

Today I left a deposit on a BRG/M MCS, and I need to fnd out about the MINI branded extended warrenty. Can it be purchased after the fact? can I get a 5 year 100K or one with greater miles such as a 120K? What is a good price for the warranty and where can I get a good deal if anyone knows? thanks in advance.

Shane

Sadly, MINI does not offer an extended warranty - unless something has changed recently that I'm not aware of. I've been burned by aftermarket warranties (Warranty Gold), so I maintain my car properly and will pay for required repairs or sell the car if things get out of hand.

You can opt to extend the factory maintenance to 50K miles from the standard 36K miles, for around $500. This covers oil changes, wiper blades and a brake job, which you'll likely need by 50K miles. I'm going to go with aftermarket rotors and pads, so I didn't bother.

Same here. I blew off the extended maintenance. Dealer wanted $500 for it. I generally handle all of my repair work. Though a transverse axel can make things kinda tight, and availability of MINI parts may be difficult too... We'll cross that bridge when we come to it....

I went with the extended maintenance, but only after I talked the dealer down from $500 to $400 -- I've heard some have gone lower, but I cannot confirm that.

There is an extended warrantee available through dealerships (talk to the finance manager). As long as you do it BEFORE YOUR FACTORY WARRANTEE EXPIRES, it's not insanely expensive. The day before my 4th anniversary of picking up the car, at 37,500 miles, I extended the warrantee to 8 years and 75,000 miles. It cost me about $1800. I now have a $100 deductible and once it's set up, you just take the car to the dealership and it is handled like any other warrantee repair. Having just replaced the transmission on my wife's 99 Subaru, it seemed like a reasonable bit of insurance to me.

I went with the extended warranty

Hi, I've had good luck with extended warranties in the past and plan on keeping my MINI for a long time, so I went with the finance department offered plan. In my case, my $1,800 got 7 year/100k protection.

Thanks guys, This is good to know that I can get a 100K warrantee on the MIni. I need it, had it on the Element which just came out of warranty at 100k and it paid off for the struts and ac compressor.

so I will use $1800 fot the 7yr 100k warrantee as a bargaining number.

Thanks

Extended Warranty

I spoke with the local Mini/BMW Finance person about an extended service warranty for my '04 MCS. Basically they add 1 yr/14k miles for $700.00.

Not sure if it is worth it, of course the dealer thought it was a good deal. I will have to calculate the service costs during those time periods to see if it pays for itself.

The other extended warranty that covers the drive train and such was quoted for over $2800.00

Needless to say, once I gained consciousness, I walked out .
