Thinking of removing armrest from order

Hi, i've been looking around the site to find info on the armrest. It seems like a lot of people are dissatisfied with it. So i've been thinking if maybe i should call LB MINI and tell them to remove it from my order. My previous car didn't have an armrest and i did fine without one but i do find myself using it when i drive a friend's or my mom's car. But i think it would be more for storage rather than to rest on it. So, i was looking through ebay and found this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mini-...QQcmdZViewItem

What do you guys think? Does anyone have this? And does it take up leg room.
Thanks

I've got the arm rest. I guess I rest my arm on it some but could easily live without it. In fact I'd like to be able to access that rear cup holder from the driver's seat and the arm rest makes that more difficult. In my opinion it is useless for storage. If you want additional storage get the Euro Parcel Tray. Now, that I love!

It works great. I also installed my AUX input in the tray and thats where my ipod hides.

I personally like the armrest. I think it could have been better designed, but it's adequate, and I can still reach the back cupholder (great place to stash a spare bottle of water).

I've ordered the parcel tray - *that's* a great idea!

Yep, I like the armrest. If I had a stick, probably wouldn't use it as much. Regardless, makes a nice place to store the Dentyne and the sunglasses ( but not much else! ).

Skip the parcel shelf...you should definitely get the shifter saddle bags!

I like the factory armrest so far. I know some people say it opens too easily, but I haven't encountered that problem. I don't really rest my arm on it much during city driving because I have a manual, but I know I'll be glad it's there when I take road trips.

The parcel shelf if useless if you're as tall as I am. The armrest, though could be better designed with a simple catch to keep it closed, holds my sunglasses, pens, and the occasional receipt. I've found the rear cup holder easy to get to if I need it, but I use the large swivel holder that came with the car. Pretty handy once you get used to it.

I did it, called the dealer and took off the armrest and the ipod adapter, got the AUX instead, i guess i'll buy the saddle bags. Then i'll save up a few bucks and get the parcel tray, those two things are already cheaper than the armrest
and im 5'7" i think, so i doubt the tray will have a bad effect, plus i lived without one for like 3 years with my old bug. That thing had no accessories at all except steering wheel, speedo, shifter and the tiny glovebox. So i've grown used to not having much room.

Is it hard to install the AUX someplace other than the glovebox where it's supposed to be, i heard someone put it by the stereo. That sounds convenient but i was just wondering if it's a pain putting it there?

Good move, I also had removed the factory armrest from my order when I actually sat in a MINI that had it. I found that it got in the way of the parking brake, lumbar support control, access to the rear cup holder and worst, maybe even shifting. It just did'nt seem to fit in with the concept of the MINI as a hard driving little bugger....

I was going to order an armrest...and today while driving my current commuter I realized I don't really have one in it to use. I just rest my hand on the shifter.

I do use it in the hubby's Yukon though...he has the flip-down-captain's-chair style though, so it's automatically in the right place. But I think I'll live without one if I've gone the last 4 years without one!
