Are you tall, with kids and a mini???

So my cousin is dying to get a mini...drools when he sees my mini BUT he's a 6 ft tall guy. He also has two kids...I don't think he'll be getting a mini or his family of 4 will not fit in a mini!!!
When he drove my mini the driver's seat was all the way to the back
So if you have a mini...do you have a family??? How big of a family???
This got me thinking...am I gonna have to get a bigger car when I have children???
Or am I and my boyfriend gonna have to drive both of our minis everywhere When he read this, he said we'll fit because we're not tall people

Remember: there's a whole lot of midsize/fullsize sedans, station wagons and minivans between MINI and SUV...

I am 6 foot and have three kids, ages 6,7, and 9. It can get a little uncomfortable at times but we make due. I just have to move the seat up a little or they sit with their feet in the seat(no shoes of course).
It works fine for us.

I totally agree with the feet on the seat thing...when you want a mini ...you get a mini...

I'm 6'7" and fit very comfortably. I would think someone 7" shorter could scoot the seat up a bit.

I'm 6'2 and occasionally fit 3 other adults in the car. The only exception is the shortest person sits behind me (mid 5ft-ish I would guess).

Everybody seems comfortable, atleast I've not "heard" anything otherwise.

No problems here when my 85 y/o mother goes with us. She is in front passenger seat with my daughter in car seat behind her and my wife in back seat behind me. We don't want mom to have to climb in the back, but once in, there is plenty of room except for luggage, of course, with stroller in the back. I'll figure out the luggage soon enough, but we NEVER travel with mom ("back/front seat driver"!!), so we can just lay down one of the back seats.

My husband's 6'3", I'm 5'8", two kids (one really tall 7 yr old and a 4 yr old). We both drive MINIs. We make sure the tall 7 yr old sits behind me when dad's driving. Sometimes they have to sit indian-style depending on the situation. The kids wouldn't have it any other way. They love our cars.

I am 6'7 and fit with the seat move as far back as possible. There is no way someone could sit behind me. Nevertheless, I think someone shorter could move up the seat and a smaller person coould sit comfortably behind them.

I am 6' 2" MrsDiff is 5'7" KidDiff1 is 5 years old and about 4 foot tall, He rides behind MrsDiff. KidDiff2 is 3 years old and about 3 foot tall, he rides behind me.

The key to tall parents and kids is to have them spread the legs around the font seats, Also if you state doesn't mandate booster seats there is more room for their feet on the floor.

I'm 6'3", Mrs. Boneman is 5'10", and when I rented the MINI before making my final decision, I piled a couple of co-workers in the back, and all of our work gear without too much problem.

It's the most comfortable small car I've ever driven. I have a bad back and can barely go more than 30 miles in my wife's Z3 without having to get out and stretch. I drove our rental MINI on a 120 mile trip without even a twinge.

I'm 6'1" with a wife and a 2 year old daughter and 3 year old son. We regularly transport the kids in the Mini, but it isn't our main family hauler (that would be our Ford Freestyle) and I would never use a Mini as a primary family vehicle. I typically sit with the seat 3/4 of the way back to drive, occasionally all the way back, but when I autocross I sit with the seat half way up and can easily do that if a taller person needs to sit behind me.

my dad (twister), my mom, my sister, and i all fit in the mini. my mom and i are about 5' 6'', but we make us fit. we drove up to the dragon with only the mini and survived! it's not as bad as some non-mini-owners make it out to be!

I guess all of us mini lovers would do anything and accomodate to keep our minis and families...
We're never getting rid of our minis for that reason unless we have more than two kids but I doubt that's going to happen

I'm only 5' 9" so this may or may not help. We have three sons: 8, 6 and 5. They all ride in he back seat. How you might ask? I removed the seat belt center mount and mounted three sets of jr. dragster 5 point racing harnesses. The harness is a two inch wide belt and is a latch style. The only complaint from the rear is a little crowded and the latch can be a pain, should have maybe spent the extra money on cam style.

By the way I have an 05 Mini Cooper. The boys and I have done many 500 plus trips with a portable dvd player and the wife at home.(couldn't take off the work and no room)

You should have seen the neighbors the first day I brought home the Mini and had the whole back seat removed installing the racing belts.

I'm 6 foot and carry most of my height torso up, and the headroom is wonderful in this little car.

my son is 6 and a big boy. sometimes i load him up in the back seat via the rear hatch ;o)

now, sitting behind me, even for my son, is a chore, so if you are talking kid(s) plural, and you don't have a second larger car, then you might be in trouble.

but hey, you gotta have the kids 1st eh? and then they gotta grow up a little. (5 years)

I am 5' 10", wife is 5' 3", daughter 5' 7", son 5' 6", all fit just fine with no problems at all ... we may need to get a roof rack for longer trips or just take the F250 truck or the wife's Volvo 960 ... although I would rather take that Mini anywhere we go if I have a choice.

As others have said it can be done. I'm 6'#', the wife is 5'9" and we have 5 and 3 year old daughters who are toward the tall end on the standardized size charts. When we all get in the MINI to go somewhere it can be done but I prefer my wife to drive as I have to put the seat near half way forward and I normally drive with it about two click from full back. If we didn't have to have the booster seats then I think it would be a lot easier but the girls have to have them until they are at least 6 years old, so I've got another 9 months to go for the oldest. With infant seats I'd say it would be near impossible. This is why we have an 06 Accord to go with the 06 MINI, something with much more space and comfort, but that may change when they release the Traveler.

I'm 6'-2", and test drove the convertible with the Mrs (5'-10"), the youngest son (same as mom) and the MA (short person, but nice). It was a fairly tight squeeze, but we had fun. I wouldn't advise taking a long road trip that way though. The Mrs has the Element for that sort of thing.

I'm 6' 3", 3 kids - 2 are tweens. I've had the 5 of us, but only locally. Wife has the "family" car.

I'm 6'2 and have had two of my teenaged sons "tandum" on the passenger side of the Mini. All knees touching the glovebox/seatback but not pressing into them. However, when cruising around California with my wife 5'8" and two teenagers we took the Saab 9-5 Aero wagon. What can be done and what should be done are sometimes different.

That said, with a shorter wife and three kids aged 7 to 1 we did the whole west coast national park trip in a VW Sorocco (more or less the interior size of the MINI). What must be done can be done.
