how did you find out the 14th? i know there's a shipping schedule someplace, but I can't remember where. the 14th would be good timing!
If you go on the shipping web-site and put your vin in, then click on the ships itinerary. It will tell you the ship is in Germany now, then Belgium, then UK on the 1st then NYC on the 10th, then Baltimore on the 12th and finally SC. on the 14th

Tropical Storm Isaac

Hello everyone...If you're on the Maersk Wind right now there could be some problems with Tropical Storm Isaac. I've been watching it on the Weather Channel and on the sailwx.info site. Here is an article from AP that says it should move north out of the way of our boat!

Tropical Storm Isaac moves toward Canada, could become a hurricane within 24 hours
By Associated Press
Saturday, September 30, 2006 - Updated: 09:10 AM EST

MIAMI - Tropical Storm Isaac continued moving through the central Atlantic toward Canada early Saturday, and forecasters said it could become a hurricane later in the day.
At 5 a.m. EDT, the ninth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season had top sustained winds near 70 mph, up from 45 mph on Thursday.

Tropical storm force winds extended up to 115 miles from Isaac’s center.

The storm was centered about 425 miles east-southeast of Bermuda and moving west-northwest near 7 mph.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said Isaac could turn toward the northwest and strengthen within the next 24 hours.

It should stay to the east of Bermuda, but the Canadian Maritimes and Newfoundland could feel the outer edges of the storm, forecasters said.

Isaac developed into a tropical storm Thursday.

The Atlantic hurricane season began June 1 and ends Nov. 30.

oh... that's not good. hopefully it will steer clear of the Maersk Wind.

wow... the number of ships that show up under "ship traffic worldwide" is incredible.

question - when I search by name to try to track the Liberty, it shows that its position hasn't been updated since Aug. 17. Is there another way to track the ship? this may be the longest 14 days ever...

When I first started Tracking the Maersk Wind it was showing September 11 for days then it just poped up with Sep 28 I think. From what I've read they don't update to the service until they get a ways out of land...So, keep checking...

well, think that's bad? CHeck out typhoon xangsane. 110 knots sustained winds.... OUCH! Not for us though, its a warm water thing.

I dont know how ships feel about tropical storms. I would guess they cannot pay all that much heed to them being that big $$$ is at stake. so many hurricanes during septemember on the atlantic that really, if they had to go around them, I think nothing would get shipped here on time ever

thanks Brad... i thought that might be the case, but Aug. sounds like a long time ago. I will keep checking... I mean... what else do I have to do to keep my sanity!

oh, i know... I need to scour the detailing posts and try to compile a list of basic cleaning supplies to buy before Grover arrives.

Looks like Isaac will be further North than Wind's track (finger's crossed).
I've been watching it for a couple of days and was a bit worried.
If I'm on the Wind as my MA says (I can't find my VIN on the WW site), then I really want the trip to be smooth.

Okay, now Hurricane Isaac has slowed down to tortoise speed and is in perfect alignment with Maersk Wind (again!). We don't need no stinking dings! Keep it smooth and steady and hopefully miss the worst of the storm.

A little thing like Issac CAN NOT STOP GUS and GOLIATH. They will be in port as scheduled on 10/4/06.

Well, there are ships a lot closer to Isaac than the Wind. I'm still hoping for docking on the 4th.

just curious if anyone knows... I've checked the status of the Liberty... it says it has sailed as of today.

When I enter my Mini's VIN... it is still showing "Received at Terminal" and "Booked".

Does it take a while to update? When I search by booking number... a list comes up... some VINs show "Loaded On Vessel" but most... like mine... still show "Received at Terminal". Does this mean I didn't make this ship?

Thanks. Hope the Maersk Wind skirts the storm.

It is going to be soooo close. I wonder what parameters they use to decide if to change the routing....Isaac has slowed to 70 knot winds and has picked up speed which should single a loss of power.

depends on where the car is going, i think... if it is being delivered to New England states (NY, NJ, etc.) then it offloads in New York. The ships (at leas the one I'm tracking) then goes to Baltimore, then Charleston and then a stop in Georgia. If you are in California, they go through the canal, I believe to a port in Southern Cal.

That's all based on what I've been reading here.

I think that we dodged Issac, this means 2 days and Goliath will be on dry land along with alot of other folks.

So far this has been a great trip from day one, long but good.

i missed the boat!

to answer my own question -- YES... UGHHHH... they must over book these ships and then load only the cars that will fit. I was "booked" on the Liberty, which sailed yesterday. I look this morning and it now says I'm "booked" on the Integrity... I knew my progress was unusually fast.

The Integrity makes two stops in Belgium, too, so IF I get on this ship in Southampton, it won't leave until Oct. 6 and it won't get to Charleston until Oct. 21!!! I was really hoping to have the car by the end of Oct, but that may be very close... depends on if it makes this ship, if the weather is good, if it gets through the VDC quickly, and if it thumbs a ride swiftly to Tennessee.

Perhaps access to so much tracking information is a bad thing?
