Production Week 38 (Sept 18, 2006) Support Group
Picked up our new MINI yesterday, late. It's beautiful and drives like a dream. We got the automatic, and the gas mileage so far (we drove it about 60 miles last night) was fabulous, and unexpected (on the freeway it was getting, at one point, close to 40mpg!). We were in such a rush that I just snapped a couple of pics (our car is the same color as Rachael's).

hopefully i only have a couple more days to wait.:impatient
Nice Rachel! Waiting breathlessly for my GP!
Looking good, Rachel. Car's not bad either! Love the color. I will hopefully get my JCW GP soooooon! If i remember right, it was born Sept. 22.
yeah... i dunno about 'alice...' It sounded good at the time, but after seeing the car, it doesn't seem right. I'm sure the right one will come to me.
btw, i took my little sister for a ride yesterday, and she said 'geez dude, your spedometer is huge! It should be on like a clocktower or something!'
Cracked me up ..
I'm so excited for all of you picking up today! How's about we follow my example and post pictures in a timely manner?

You got it girl...
Rachel, your car colors look very similar to the GP. Cool!

anticipation...
okay, apparently Grover needed a little more rest after his long journey so I didn't pick him up today (that and the service department is swamped). but I will tomorrow.
it's rainy here today, so perhaps tomorrow will be more moonroof friendly.
I did say hello and sat in him briefly, eyeing that chrome blingage, and gave his gear shift a 1-2. then I let him go back to sleep.
I forgot to take a picture close up, so I took this spy shot later (not great, but just a tease). look how nice he is, 3rd in line, waiting his turn and all with his truck mates... just like school children. they're not sure what that BMW is doing at the front of the line.

I promise that tomorrow I will post more pics than you can rev a supercharger at.

namvet... hopefully the truck turned south and is bringing your Mini home!

I love grover! Look at him waiting so patiently, what a good MINI!
So guess what I found out about the HK... the head unit is not so supercool... you can't see the time on the songs and as far as i know, you can't see the track names on mp3's. I think all this will be solved once I get an ipod adapter hooked in. I think I will get the iPod holder that goes on the side of the tach.. so you can see right there what track is playing.. not sure which adapter to get yet.
This car is so much fun... funny thing is.. I never even test drove one, so yesterday was my first time ever even driving a mini! When we went to look at them I had my fiance test drive it since I hadn't driven stick in a while and didn't want to make an *** of myself.
me go fast.

mini_dreams,
I am so happy for you and all the folks who have gotten their cars this week.
Grover looks like he is ready to come home to some TLC after such a along trip.
I also hope that the truck came south, time will tell.
Waiting on some close up pics.
Happy Motoring.

That is funny Rachael, I have a few friends that have them (minis) but i hadn't driven one either and after i ordered it my girlfriend said, "shouldn't you take it for a test drive?", so i did and it was great, but I probably wouldn't have had she not said anything.... More recently my friend let me take his JCW for a spin, it had after market light wheels and sticky tires and boy was that fun.... hope everyone is having a great day.
thanks for the kind words everyone! I may not sleep tonight, but that's okay... I've got some work to get done so that I can motor freely tomorrow.
rachael - i'm going to try the Aux Input first and then maybe add the OEM iPod adapter later.... i do like that you can control the iPod from the MFSW, though. Apparently the Denison DICE unit displays track names on the head unit but may be a bit more complicated to install.
I can't believe you and PSB never test drove one! that's so funny. I test drove several and I know how fun it is, so it must be a blast for you both.

I got the AUX port, and plugged my iPod Nano in and it played great through the radio. I use a MicroFlex from xtrememac.com, so can see the iPod's screen just fine without too much trouble. See: http://www.xtrememac.com/chargers/microflex_car.php
It works with first gen ipod Nanos, not second gen. Sounds great!! Temps in the 90's here to day, so sunroof has been open. You can (sort of) see the MicroFlex in this photo.
