Ya, it sounds foolish, but i'm a do-it-yourselfer who wants to buy an 02-04 Mini automatic with mechanical problems (or some bodywork). So just what kind of eninge you plan on putting in, this sounds an awful lot like an engine swap plan.

Check the Marketplace here on NAM, there was one in the past few weeks with some head issues, might be worht looking into, not sure if he sold yet or not.

 

Try Ebay...I've seen a couple in the last month that were wrecked, but claimed they were salvageble....

 

Too bad you don't live near New England area... a fellow former MINI driver just traded in her messed up '02-'03? MC CVT (I think tranny issues... MINIUSA refused to fix it because of "mods"). Her name is Annette and her name on MINI2 is NoNo.

 

Motoron: i have a line on two good engines and auto trannies and would like to find homes for them. no big mods or special plans. just want another mini for my daughter and another friend.

Springminifan: i do watch ebay but shy away from that new york dealer "lev" that occasionally offers these since i cant see the cars firsthand and he's already made the middleman money on the cars he sells. I'd prefer to buy directly from people like Sheenabea talks about.

Sheenabea: so NoNo's car is traded and gone? too bad...it wouldve been a perfect fit for me. Anybody else out there?

Have you checked the "junkyards" I know there's a search engine people link to for parts every once and while, parts and the occasional car that is generall pruchased for racing applications, so the might have something to fit your needs, hope the search goe well.

 

Well, she traded it for her new car, but I believe it is probably still at the dealer where she got her new car. She just traded it in/got her new car last week.
