Sun Roof tint

Has anyone any ideas for darkening the sun roof? Im thinking about tint but are there any other ways to go on my 2006 S.

I've found that the white sunroof decal does an excellent job of "tinting" the sunroof.

MINI owners have come up with a lot of solutions to keep the sunroof from turning the interior into a solar oven.

Here are some ideas:

1) Roof decals. Solid ones keep the most light out, but perforated decals (like the ones covering the windows on a city bus) allow you to see out.

2) tint. You can go as dark as you want since tinting laws don't apply to sunroofs

3) sunshades. You can spend $5 for a set of collapsible windshield sunshades or over $100 for a set of custom sized shades. (I'm using the $5 solution)

The sunroof comes with some level of tint, what %, I'm not sure. Clearly, it is not enough so what I did was to tint all windows except the windscreen, to 35%. I also had them put a layer of 35% tint film on both panels of the sunroof. The result? Perfect! Not so dark that it cried out to the Police, "Stop me for sure and maybe give me a tx". It was dark enough so that the car could sit out all day in full summer sun and I could get in and the car would be merely warm, not painfully hot. My whalen would not be hot at all and the A/C could cool the car quickly. Before the tint, I bought the full blackout sunroof shade as the translucent pull shade let in too much sun. Since the tint, I've never used the sunshade. Didn't need it.

One of my fellow Week 29'ers had tinted the sunroof at 35% on one of his MINI's and he said it really helps keep it cool in the summer. I've got an appointment for next week to tint the windows and I'm going to do the sunroof as well!

Anyone know of a good tint shop around Jackson, NJ? I'd like to get my sunroof tinted and the upper three to four inches of the front windshield on both of our MINIs tinted. An annoying amount of sunglare comes through the upper portion of the windshield.
Thanks in advance.

I am a big fan of the roof graphic. It helps to make even more unique and helps with the heat.

that's what I did - and added a perforated roof graphic. It's great.
