I need therapy

Hello! My name is Caraigh (Carrie) and I bought my Mini back in March. His name is Gizmo and born in 2002. I am so in love with this silly thing..I'm sure I need thearpy. I would love to get more involved with the Mini community. I still have a lot to learn and hope to get advice and suggestions thru this site (i.e. just got an SES P0136).

Welcome to NAM Carrie.

If you haven't already done so, check out mini5280, they are the MINI club in Colorado and have drives that go all over the state. I know there is a good contingent of the club that is from the Springs.

If you're really motivated this weekend, you might try ducking over to Copper Mountain for MINIs in the Mountains.

Enjoy your new MINI.

Dave

Your so lucky! I love Manitou Springs! I was in that area for a business trip a year ago and I was just amazed by how beautiful it is out there. Heck, wish I was that fortunate to live out there now. I know I'd be motoring up and down Pikes Peak fairly often. Just thinking about all those curvy mountain roads makes me so jealous! Make sure you do a little motoring for me.

I have always thought of NAM as therapy for when you can't drive your MINI. Like at work... Waiting to down the last of the gallon of milk so that you have a reason to go out and motor!

I'm in need of my MINI! (supposedly due first week of November...) and think about it 24/7. Now is when I need therapy! My husband suggested I keep my purchase a secret from everyone so it'll be a big surprise. Do you know how hard it is to not shout about it? Thank you NAM for being here to help me through the wait.

Attaching graphics

Hey Snooter,

You'd think as I'm a graphic designer that I'd have figured out by now how to add those cool club badges, etc. to my signature line. Whenever I go into the insert image section it asks me for the http:// address. I'm confused! Can you advise?

What MINI did you order?

Thanks! K

I lasted three weeks. Then it was just too hard and I told everyone. Now they are sick of hearing about it.

I can imagine... once the flood gates are open! I have a full folder of stuff I've printed out on the MINI (best resale value, best customer satisfaction, reviews, etc.) and am sure I'd force everyone to let me read all the incredible stats to them. But there is no way you can convey the feeling you got when you took over the wheel at the first test drive. Seriously, I had the dealer hanging on! Let's see how long I can keep the secret.

Manitou is very pretty. I have been here for about 3 years and can't see me leaving. Anytime soon you might come back?

Caraigh.....I hear ya, therapy (of some sort) does seem needed. It's so, so weird.....but also so, so fun. Kinda redefines the automotive ownership experience, doesn't it? I honestly still can't quite describe the hold this silly little car has on me (even though it still has no name), and I have never.........ever...........minded making a MINI car payment. Unbelievable, right? In the end, I think it's just a MINI thing....such a little car, with such a cute, benign face......yet so capable, and so driver-compliant, with such fantastic heritage.

Kissmya.....a secret? OMG, that would be very difficult!! We might need a thread just for you or else you might burst!!! Seriously....lean on the NAM community...these folks will stand by ya!!

Yeah. A thread just for me. See, here I am, neglecting my Saturday chores, perusing the NAM site to stay connected and sane. I've come close to bursting a couple of times, but then I fantasize what it's gonna be like when I pull in the driveway in my new MINI and freak out my kids... then my vendors and customers . I've always liked to spring surprises on people (like my gecko tatoo), but this one just might not be worth the containment pressure:impatient .

Have you reserved your personalized license plate yet? I did that the night I got back from the dealership and put my money down on the MINI. Somehow that commitment made it a little more real than a cancelled check.

New plate: KS MI S

Do you have the picture in your gallery yet? If so go to your gallery, click on the picture and then right click on the picture, click on properties, then copy the address that comes up in the property box and use that for the address they ask for in your signature. PM me if that doesn't work.

Got my mini Feb of this year. Got about 13K miles on it so far. Dark Silver MCS convertible. Still got that silly smile on face everytime I go to drive it too.

I believe we might be setting up another trip out there sometime, I just have to hope I'm the fortunate one who is picked to head out that way again! That area is really spectacular. I can still recall the last couple of days I spent there. Had a chance to go over to Cave of the Winds and Garden of the Gods. The scenery out there is really breathtaking, especially when you drive up the 20+ miles to get to the top of Pike's Peak. VERY worth the drive, I might add. And I really can't say enough good things about Manitou Springs. It is one of those picturesque mountain towns you think of from books and such. I can't blame you for ever wanting to leave either, as I recall how hard it was for me to leave. I might have to just make the jump and move out west one of these days. Ah well, it'll happen one day, I just know it!

Speaking of license plates, the first week I got my MINI I made sure to think of any possible names i could come up with. Most were kinda lame, to say the least, but I finally had my heart set on MINI S ME. Course, when I was at the DMV about to register the name, I found out I was only able to get one space in the name, so either MINIS ME or MINI SME or MINISME. As I sat there pondering about what I wanted to do, I decided to check if whether GOT MINI was available. My heart pratically skipped a beat when the lady I was dealing with notified me about the availability of the name. I suppose the rest is history, as I'm the official GOT MINI owner in FL.

GotMINI?

That's a thought... even though it won't be his MINI, he's about as excited as I am. He's 6'3" and fit in that sweet car like it was made for him. His 0 to Smile grin was pretty big when he got out.

Thank you Snooter for the graphics placement tips. Worked like a charm!
