Might have found my MINI!

So I was telling my dad yesterday that I was thinking of buying a MINI over the next few months. So then he tells me that he just bought one THAT DAY . I was like WTF.

But here is a little background. My dad owns a body/restoration shop and if he can find a good deal on a damaged car with a clean title he will buy it, fix it, sell for profit. So one of his customers just forgot to pull the e-brake and his car rolled down a driveway and tipped into a ditch on its roof.

Its a 2004 MCS with only 17,000 miles and it has all 3 packages. I think it has every option but NAV. Anyways, my dad just bought it for $6,000 and I think I am going to buy it from him when its fixed (probably for around $18k). Not bad for loaded low mileage MINI!

Here are a few pics. I havent seen it in person yet, just pics.

Interesting

With your Dad being a pro...I am sure he will check for a bent/tweaked frame!

Geez...$6000, He probably could part it out and make a bundle!

I have an 04 with pretty much everything (bought used) with 18,400 mi. Had to pay about 24K. (PW and the same color/leather interior in the Pic. LOVE IT!

I do notice that it has the Non Sport steering wheel..

try to email Miniusa with the Vin and they may send you the orig equipment list. Mine had some stuff i did not even know about! ie: went looking for the mirror flip switch to dim....wasn't there...since it had the auto dimmer...Options seem to determine pricing on the used ones out here!

Ya, frame is fine. He has already had it on the fram rack to check. Also, I could be mistaken, but I think in 04 the sport steering wheel didnt come with the sport package, it was an extra option. Not really a huge deal to me anyways.

That looks like one of the last of the 2-spoke steering wheels. Nice. Looks like just a bit of pillar and roof damage. The sunroof doesn't even look damaged.

What??? Your Dad buys the car for 6k and then sells it to you (his sibling) for 18k? I think your Dad should cut you a better deal.

The sunroof glass isnt damaged at all but the track mechanism is and that part is $1500 by itself . Other than that, both quarters need to be fixed, new roof, new hood, new fender, repair rear bumper. It also will need a new mirror and maybe an exhaust. Should cost $10-12k to make it new again. My dad wont charge me to make a profit so I should get it for under $18k.

Insurance estimated $15k in damages. My dad thinks he can get it done under $12. Like I just said, he wont make any profit from me.
