Newby needs guidance...

My wife and I have just recently been investigating the Mini and have considered it for a 2nd car. I've read a bunch about the 2006 models and the comparison with the upcoming 2007 models. Design changes and new engine design concern me as well as the aesthetics, but more important to me would be locating a dealership and service.

The nearest dealerships are in Salt lake City, Portland, and then Tacoma as we are located in Boise. Our local BMW dealership does not service the Mini. At this point it would be impractical for us (but still willing to consider it).

Another concern is who to buy from. Have any of you ever had dealings with
minis-2you.com? Your advice is appreciated.

Wow...I have to drive to from Reno to sacramento (about 120 mi) and thought that was long. It just gives me an excuse for my own little run!!

Unfortunately it is over I-80...Land of broken Mini Windshields....I bought mine used so I have only had to go once for a few minor things. I gues it is time again in about 7000 mi for inspection 1

AS far as the new Mini...Like you I am not going to even think about one until the new engine has had a few years under its belt. Besides, I am not thrilled by certain other aspects of the 07 . like the interior....and some of the outer body changes...time will tell but I plan on keeping the 04 quite a while (also my 2nd play car!)

As far as letting BMW in Reno even change the oil...no way! They are the worst dealership on the planet and I do it myself anyway! They have been trying to get the Mini delership now for a while...their reputation preceeds them heheh...as much as I want local service...not with them!

PS: getting a nice used one is not a bad thing...it is an 04 and 18,400mi when bought. Luckily most adjustments etc that had to be done were taken care of by the orig owner! Mini's do come with road service where if anyehing bad happens, it is picked up and towed to the nearest dealer. Nice little perk!

PS...LOVIN IT!

Hey Gizzer,
Thanks for the input. Still some time away from a purchase for sure.
Best Regards,
