I've heard rumours that production is soldout for the 06 year...
You should go to the closest dealer and find out for sure... maybe you get lucky and you can find exactly what you want at a local dealership lot?
Either that or wait for the new model - it will premiere at the Paris Auto Show on September 30 and immediately goes into production thereafter. The first new Minis scheduled to come to the USA should be here in early 07...

I had a great interaction with SanFrancisco Mini. Allison was the person there. I didn't in the end buy it from them though as my wife and I decided to special order instead of settling for something that was only 95% right. This is back in end of May roughly (our car was made Week 23 - first week of June - and delivered to us last week!).

I had an unpleasant interaction with Mini of Concord though.
I had found something I liked there. Called them on a Friday afternoon to confirm I was flying up from Los Angeles that night and would be there first thing Saturday morning when they opened at 10am. At 9:30am as I am coming up the 680 almost in Concord I get a phone call from the salesperson asking me when I was planning to come in. I remind her that as I told her the day before I am on my way and will be there in the next 20minutes as promised... there's a silence at the other end of the phone... and then she tells me she left work early on Friday night and another salesman sold "my" car THAT NIGHT to someone else... I was beside myself you can imagine.

That's my two cents. Hope it helps.

If you feel like driving a few miles, go see Wade Gardner at Niello Mini in Sacramento. Great experience.

East Bay is great, give them a call just in case (you never know). I would call all around Northern and Southern Cal to see if they have available prod slots, or cars on the way that fit the bill, and see who will do the MSRP with no funny fees/markups. Otherwise see where else out of state will be MSRP, no weird doc fees, and is a place you'd drive back from.

Also, there really are a lot of newer used Minis out there (even 05s and 06s) and I would seriously consider that now. You can save a lot, esp now that the new model coming out can be used as leverage. Don't be put off by asking price (private or dealer sale), these things are negotiable, and if from a dealer you might be able to get an extended warranty, among other things, thown in.

Good luck!

Contact Crystal Ewing Niello Mini in Sacramento. I bought my new 2006 MCS from her. She knows what she is doing and did not waste any of my time.

East Bay Mini

I'd reccomend East Bay Mini in Pleasonton. I just picked up my MCS from them about two weeks ago. Blair and Scott over at Easy Bay Mini are really cool guys.

They don't mark up over MSRP, but like Eric B said all of the 06 models may be spoken for. They do have a waiting list for the 07, however.

I just sat down with Blair over at East Bay and he took my deposite and said there was still numbers out there.

ETA: Just got email from Blair today assuring my space for their last allocation (October). I'm 15 on the list. Makes me feel better.. I need my car to arrive after October because I have a good chunk of cash coming in to apply towards purchase.

Cool. East Bay is really good on sending you really regular updates on your order. They were also really accurate on their estimated delivery date.

CanyonCarver: Good to know! I was fine til I found these forums and started reading.. got me worried I might be sitting and waiting and not get a thing in the end. I let Blair know my concern and he was right on it with a 'for sure' for me so I'm happy again.
