Production Week 33 (August 14, 2006) Support Group
Mizer-
I picked my yet-to-be-named baby up last night (see week 34 thread for pic links!) and yes, there was definitely a burning smell. I believe it was spots of paint burning off the engine. In fact, my boyfriend commented on it when he walked over the car after we drove our separate cars home...said he'd never driven a car so new that you could see/smell the paint burn off. =)

Wow, Mizer, looks great!! That Pepper White really does look sharp.
And yeah, the first couple times I drove Stella, I smelled something burning. It kind of freaked me out for a minute, but then I thought it must be something to do with the fact that she was new.
Happy motoring!!

thanks everyone!
I think the burning smell is the cosmoline burning off of the new exhaust system. because i know they spray the under side of the car with it to prevent rusting.
also i thought it was kinda funny because i was sitting still in my drive way and put the wipers on high. they were still going slow and i was like "omg they dont go faster then this!? dont they know i live in hurrican ally??"
So i looked in the owners manual and read that when the car is sitting still the wipers will go at "normal" speed when set on high.
learn something new everyday.
i hope everyone else gets there car very soon, we want to see pics!

Wow, Lyrebard, yours came in quick if you are week 34! There are still many week 33 who haven't picked up their cars (including moi!) but my situation changes today - TODAY IS THE DAY!
I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself, lol... and to make it worse, I have boring meetings all day at work
Soooo, I go pick it up at 5pm. I'll post pics as soon as I can

Nice BRG MCS Lyrebard! I bet you are super excited!
got to watch out for that 4k RPM though, it seems to come up very fast.
i put in my mini mania Iride Ipod glove box organizer last night, and got my Ipod working so i can control it on the radio/steering wheel. It sounds great! I had to get a little help from the interior Mod people on how to make it stay on one play list while on random shuffle.

Thanks guys! Yeah, for some reason my MINI went through the process quite expediently, although I think it helps that I live in NYC and that's the first port in the States that the ships going to the East Coast stop at. I also think that my production week--while scheduled for week 34--bled into week 33. (I've been lurking in both production threads, LOL.)
I am so super-excited I can't stand it...I wanna go out Motoring, even though it's a work day and totally dreary-rainy out. But my MA sent me home with a little MINI replica in BRG and I brought it into work today, so it helps that I can stare at it whenever I feel the Motoring urge.
Mizer: Your PW baby looks fantastic!

I will take more pics this weekend, hopefully i'll have the m7 black grills on and i will be able to take better pics when its not turning dark/cloudy.
Its very cloudy here also, i think its going to rain. hopefully by the weekend it will be all cleared up.
Once i sell my little blue VW that is in the garage in one of my pics. I will try to sneak my mini inside, in its place.
Now i got to find a tint shop and call to see who can paint my black wheel trim and running boards PW for a decent price.

weeeeell....im at work right now, but i went out to my car during lunch time, and ya.....a bird already pooped on it.
I mean come on...the bird must have been like "OH!!!...a brand new MINI! that doesnt have a spec of dirt on it. Let me take a crap on it, to brighten the owners day!" gee....thanks... i swear, i wish i could fly during times like this...
Oh well, its my MINI's first fly by poopin. I suppose it wont be the last.

Trust me, it's very hard to get used to the environment around your MINI being less than perfect - I have a tiny (and I mean TINY, but visible to me) scratch on my bumper (the black part). AGHH!
you guys are scaring me
anyways you are definitly right
I mean i drive a old 93 accord right now were i dont really care much about any scratches lol but my cousin was tellin me that once i get my new car
i wont have the same fun you have with your old one right now...
ull be more stressed out
i guess hes right

Talk about bad. Love bugs. I wash Tabasko every afternoon when I get home from the 60 mile roundtrip commute. I'm bonding with the MINI, though, so it's not all bad. I can't wait to go try it out on the 75 mile loop I used to do on my motorcycle - curves and hills and a chance to motor for fun!
Think you have it bad? HA! there is something wrong with my MINI already.
one of my headlights is stuck pointing straight at the ground, it lights up a huge spot about three feet infront of my bumper. looks like a spot like is aimed at the ground.
so im gonna call my MA tomorrow and see when i can bring it in.
Edit: maybe my mini didnt like the name i gave it, i'll have to think of a new one or something, haha

I GOT IT!!!

I can hardly believe I have my MINI!!! It was so fun picking it up, they had it in the showroom in this black zipper thingy they undid to 'unveil' it to me! I can't believe how much time they spent going over every little detail!! It only had 8 miles on it, but now has close to 50 after the drive home, haha.
This is my first new car, and I can see the appeal, ha... it just feels so amazing having a car built just for you! Now i have to try and think of a good name...
I will try to take pics tomm, since it is dark now, so not much use in doing so... I honestly cannot believe I have it now after such a long wait!!
The best thing is, the dealer tinted it for FREE!! It wasn't on my order or anything, but the windows are definately tinted... He didn't even mention anything about it, other than to watch if any bubbles appera or something, so I just went along, lol... Maybe it was because I couldn't pick it up till today... who knows, I'm not complaining!!
Ok, I'm off... I will try for pics tomm!!!

I talked to Jennifer at the dealer today and she told me that my car definitely arrived at the port yesterday. The better news is that she said that it should arrive at the dealer "sometime this weekend" and she confirmed that i still wanted them to install the iPod adapter and bonnet stripes. This is so exciting!
Now It's My Turn
Picking up my Mini in Houston Momentum Mini at 9:30 am. Then it is over to my Cousin's to watch LSU Tiger play the Auburn Tigers. Sounds like a great day, especially if LSU wins. Geaux Tigers (LSU)

Well, I have news my MINI arrived at the dealer yesterday!! Woo hoo!

We've went over all the paperwork that will be needed and my MA told me what I needed to bring so delivery should be quick and easy. This weekend I'm having an alarm installed and I can pick him up as soon as Monday!! I will probably pick him up Tuesday because that seems to work into my schedule better. All I have left is to arrange for a rental car to drive down there. It's a 4.5 hour drive...blah...and hopefully I-5 is open! It's been closed because of a wildfire. If it's not open it will probably turn into a 5 hour drive. Yikes!! It's all worth it though!

Ok, so I just got back from my parents since I had to get my dad to sign my trade-in check (we were both on the title) and I FINALLY took pics!! My step mother's S is probably visible in the background on one of the shots, but the center of attention is of course MINE!
The pics are in my gallery, so check 'em out!
I'm really enjoying the car. I already have over 150 miles on it, lol... but then again, Houston is a massive town and it doesn't take much to put mileage on your car. Just a quirky thing I noticed is that the two toggles I have missing are perfectly placed when I have drinks in the cupholder since bottles cover them - soooo if I did have switches there, they would be covered anyway... Anyhoo, I love it!

Mini-mine - FINE looking vehicle you got there, if I do say so myself. I put 400 miles on Tabasko the first week. You got a name for your car yet? BTW, are you related to any folks in Louisiana?
Enjoy !
Enjoy !
mini-mine: he looks fantastic! you look like quite the proud papa, and I can certainly see the step-family resemblance.
happy motoring!!!
so far I've only put 30 miles on my baby (and 20 of those were just the ride home from the dealership!), but we have to go to Pennsylvania tomorrow and I'll be getting off the freeway onto twisty roads at every possible chance.
