Dad crashed car Yeah!

Three weeks ago my father totaled my Toyota Matrix and I could not be happier. No one was injured - and I get a new car!! (Ironically I have never so much as scratched either of my parents cars)

Honestly, I wanted a Mini when I got the Matrix, but at the time I opted for more storage space. When my dad called about my car "Mini" popped into my head instantly. He was worried I would cry - whereas I was considering if I could afford a Mini . . .

After we crunched some numbers I found out that my Mini dream could come true! But before I ordered one online I, of course, went to test drive a Mini.

I normally detest driving - but I had a smile on my face the entire test drive. My dad was skeptical about the car, so he test drove it as well. And yup, he smiled the whole time too .

I put in the order today (insurance company dragged their feet) so I am waiting for my production week. And even though I have to bicycle to work for up to another 8 weeks - I'm excited!

bike to work? Does your insurance not give you a rental car?

Long story - but I could not get a rental car. And it also seemed pointless, as my house is less than a mile from my work at the moment and my boyfriend drives me to get groceries, etc.

Now if I was still commuting 1.5 hrs. in DC beltway traffic I think I would have purchased a Mini off the lot.

I move to Baltimore, MD in Sep/Oct so the car should be here in time (crossing fingers). I am not biking in city traffic . . . although my mom did offer to lend me her car.

Waiting for a customized car seems crazy to some people that I have spoken with but when you are spending over 20 grand I think it's worth waiting for . . .

I'm also going from a Matrix to a MINI, but the traditional way...couldn't find anybody to total mine The Matrix is great but very underpowered (especially the 4WD).

I went with the regular model (not S) because it drove so smoothly and yes, it still had more power than my last car .

And my dad thinks he gets to drive my Mini Granted totaling my car was his first accident . . . but he did tell me to go 50mph on a ramp while test driving the Mini (posted suggested speed I think was 20) . . .

Yeah, the choice between the S and regular MC was tough for me, but the lure of the 6 speed paddle-shifting automatic was just too much The MC is great though, I test drove both and the CVT really has a different feel to a normal automatic...very smooth indeed and definitely has far more power than the Matrix, despite similar HP ratings.

Tell your dad he is morally obligated to give you his car until yours arrives.

As a dad... how embarrasing!
I didn't have to wait to get my MINI (used).
Welcome to NAM!
