I want a mini. I am getting rid of my 2006 Honda C-RV in order to get one. I am just so bored with sensible cars. I have picked out all of my options except one. I can't pick a color. I have searched the galleries for weeks. I have been to the dealership to look at colors so many times they are giving me funny looks now. I have asked friends and relatives their opinion. The only color that I really loved was the Purple Haze. Which is gone now. Nothing else just jumps out at me. My question is how did you pick the color of your Mini? Also, if the color you picked had been unavailable, which color would have been your second choice? Thanks everyone. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I know the feeling. My first choice was Cool Blue...I really lust after that colour, and drool every time I look it. But alas, that colour is only available on the convertible. While the thought of a Mini Vert was verrry tempting (I test drove a MCSc, I really wanted a hard top for my new Daily Driver

So, I went with Space Blue.

Mmm--Purple Haze is pretty.

I got Hyper Blue. It was that or Chili Red, but I drive too fast to have a red car.

I'm also a bit of a nut about blue--my engagement stone is a blue zircon b/c I wanted that Carribbean color, my watch face is blue, my eyes are blue, many of my clothes are blue...I liked the more aqua shades they used to have, but Hyper Blue stands out to me. Especially with white roof and mirror caps. Space Blue felt a bit dull (no offense to the space blue owners out there!)

Have you tried matching the colors with different roof options? They make a big difference!

The hyper blue is very pretty. I was considering it with a black roof. But the white roof really keeps it bright and sporty. Hummmm. Thanks.

(with the HB roof)

I feel your pain. We chose BRG with a white roof and stripes. My wife liked it, and I didn't care for any of the 2006 color selections (and told so to Mini). I did like the Electric Blue of last year.

We decided that eventually we will repaint Gromit in a "true" British Racing Green, not that metallic emerald green being passed off as BRG.

I told the sales rep, that Metallic has been done to DEATH. They all agree with me at the dealership. Time for some nice bright SOLID colors. Silver would be the only metallic I would have on a list.

purple haze
The same exact thing happened to me... LOVED Purple Haze and went to order only to find out it was no more.

I built cars online in almost every color, and finally ordered Pepper White. I still love Astro Black (but would have had to paint the arches), and wonder if I should have ordered BRG with Union Jack mirrors. Both of those are still deep, dark colors but not with quite the excitement I had over PH.

Anyway, once you go to order, something will probably stand out in your mind and that's what you will get. I found the more you look at different photos and color combinations the harder it gets to choose! The MINI looks so great decorated in so many ways. Let us know what you get!

There is a PW/B Mini S that parks outside my window everyday at work. I am on the 5th floor so I stand up several times a day just to gaze out the window at it. When I first went to the dealership the first thing the MA said was "Don't get a PW/B." I don't know why. I think maybe it was because a lot of those are sold here in Oklahoma City. I think it is a beautiful color. Also, I think your right about picking a color getting harder the longer I drag it out.

The good news is that all the MINI colors look great......period. So you can't make a "bad" decision here.

My suggestion....use the force.

Same problem..... just "knew" I would get silver or dark silver... until I started trying all the options online..... built every possible combination of body and roof and stripes/no stripes, chrome, kits, etc etc etc...... just kept going back to LY/B so I finally accepted that as the right choice... and I'm glad I did since it's not an option now!....

You could also find a pic of lots of MINIs/Minis and close your eyes.....what's the first color you see when you open your eyes????? THAT's the right color for you....

Good luck.... you really can't go wrong...

Closing in on the final date to make my color decision before the July slots filled, I couldn't make up my mind. While at a conference in Jacksonville, I took a two hour break and visited the Mini dealer there. It was rainy and overcast, and they had about 30 Mini's on the lot in every color. Right away, I was able to see all of the combinations, and in the bad light, some of the options don't look so great. With some dealer input, I went with HB/S.

You've really got to see the colors in person, up close. And outside in real light.

I totally agree! And I ended up with HB/S, too.

There are other colors????

Chili Red is classic. My first car was white (no choice), second was red (off the showroom floor), third was black (used), and now I have all three colors!

Whatever you pick, don't second guess yourself.

Chili Red is the only option...

In all serious, I had a HARD time picking the color, it was by far the hardest part. In the long run, I picked Chili Red because (even though I went back anf forth and liked every color at one point or another) Chili was my initial favorite color. My last car was red too, I guess it's just my color.

CR/W gets my vote. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the great advise. This is a very helpful forum. It sounds like I am not alone when it comes to difficulty picking a color. I think I am going to just get the color that keeps coming back into my head. Even though all of them have looked good to me at one point or another. As soon as I decide for sure I will let you all know.

Instead of ordering I took from dealer stock, the car that happened to be the closest match to what I had wanted was what was at the time my 3rd choice, the color grew on me in a big hurry and I wish they still made it (JB), I have since found my first choice then is far too popular for its own good, and my second choice then would be my fist choice today. Find a MINI that you love everything else about and a color that it looks good, not nessacarly great in and you will soon see how things change, to me now you just can't top the beautiful lines that a non-metallic black brings out.

We just ordered Hyper Blue. It was easier becase the new SOHO (Canada Edition) had limited color selection. Hyper Blue (solid, no white) sticks out more than red in my opinion

My thinking exactly - I love the looks of Chili Red and would have liked to have gotten it with the silver V stripes and silver roof. I figured that it would stand out a bit to much to the wrong people so I got the HB/S with V stripes combination - my wife agrees that I made a good color choice (and the combination is fairly rare). Good luck picking your colors!

[quote=motor on]the color grew on me in a big hurry[quote]Yes, this definitely happens...often it even grows on one to the point of fanaticism (...note the proloferation of MINI-color fan clubs here on NAM ).

If it's true you are going w/ the color that keeps coming "back to your head," then I think you are on the right track.
