Holy Toledo....the closer the date the harder it is

Just spoke with Amanda at askmini & I'm in the paint shop! She said it's very speedy after that. BUT they estimate it takes 4-6 weeks from that to get to the dealer! EGAD! At least we have NAM & my fellow production mates to commiserate with!

Well I've been reading and waiting to post hoping to post with good news but now all I am is nervous. Other people have confirmation, all I have is in transit... okay while writing this decided to call ASKMINI (I swore I wouldn't do that much *sigh*)... the car arrived in Southampton yesterday. He has no information from there but I guess this is hopeful that it could get on the boat scheduled out for the 10th though he said they also use the NK line for Charleston so who knows on that one.

Guess I'll have to trust my dealer at this point when he said it's likely for first week in July (pick up date).

I WANT MY MINI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car doesn't show as being on the Toronto, so I think we may be on a different ship (NYK line?). Anyway, you may want to check askMINI. My status changed to "in transit" today, as did USA.

Are you "in transit"? Or "in transit to the port of exit"? Cuz "in transit" means you're on a ship!!

was my Boy Behaving Badly??

I'm in a funk... seems that Scootr has been booted from the boat! Yes, I know I said I wasn't going to get my hopes up when I saw him booked on the Toronto, but that was hard not to do. So when the Toronto sailed without my precious cargo aboard... well.... let's just say it was slightly depressing.

ASKMINI says they have no further information, it's now up to the sales department to keep me updated. So as near as I can see our next chance to get on a west coast vessel will be 6/18! Aaarrgggghhhh!

As has been previously noted....

I WANT MY MINI!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't give up hope!!! I was not booked on the Toronto, but apparently made it onto some other ship, as I am "in transit" according to the "voice" and the "owners lounge". I think you should check with your MA. Mine didn't know the name of the ship, but was able to see that I made it onto a ship, and have an ETA to the dealer of 7/3. Your trip to Denver may work out after all!

'The Voice' says I'm in Transit. The rep tells me that my car arrived at the docks on 06/06/06 but he had no further information. *sigh* Time to bother my MA again I think.

Hope you guys made it onto the Toronto--waiting until 6/18 would be so depressing.

I don't know what's going on with my MINI. Supposedly my car was finished on June 4th. The website still lists me as "in production" but the voice says "your production is complete. Your vehicle is waiting to be released to the carrier." I assume that means my car hasn't yet left Oxford for Southampton. The next ship to Charleston leaves on Saturday. I'm starting to think my car won't be making that one.

For my own sanity I disagreed with you initially. Now even the Owner's Lounge is saying my Mini is enjoying great buffets, etc... it seems I'm on a ship. I have no idea which ship. WW does not list my VIN on their tracking site so it seems my car snuck onto a NY:K line ship. Sneaky little bastage. I admire that.

Minitenango is still at the docks as well. Anyone know which shipping line would be used for a car coming to the midwest? Would that be a ship docking in NJ? Will the ship leaving on the 10th dock in NJ? I am still trying to figure out the shipping websites, it seems like a lot of the ships are headed for California. Thanks

if it's the midwest, i'm guessing it could come in to either port NJ or charleston, SC. i know mine will prolly come into port NJ as by what the people at askmini told me. I also asked them if the factory runs 24/7 during the week. They said yes it did. I will be calling them today to make sure my MINI is completed today like they say.

how to find what ship?

hi there--

just got the lovely surprise of "in transit" today from "track my mini"--but how do you folks know what boat, and how are some people tracking them across the ocean? just a combo or ASK-MINI, the owners' lounge, and calling MA? or is there some other way to track?

thanks--

(anticipating a pepper white cooper cabrio)

Woohoo! You must be on the same, unknown NYK ship with the rest of us. I called my MA and he says he doesn't know the name of the ship. Some MAs seem to get that info, others don't. Maybe yours would ??????

Welcome aboard!!!

I'm starting to get a bit worried. I'm in week 23, and when I ordered, my dealer promised me that I'd have my car the last week in June. This is very important, because on July 1st we will be leaving on a week-long trip to Canada - in the Mini. If the car is late, we'll have no way to get there.

miniusa.com says the car is currently "scheduled for production" so I assume that includes "in production" because the next step after that is "awaiting transport".

I'm worried it's going to be late, and I'll have no vehicle to use for my trip. And I don't really feel like dropping a few hundred dollars on a rental car because the dealer made me a promise it couldn't keep. When I ordered, I asked if there could be a delay, and he said, "There's never a delay. They're always on time. It'll definitely be here the last week of June, at the latest".

Have you spoken to a live person at 866-ask-MINI? The online stuff is usually behind. The automated voice is a little more up-to-date, and the live voice is usually pretty accurate.

Whew that's a ballsy dealer there. My MA was all about telling me it SHOULD be in but sometimes there are delays but they are pretty rare. I think you got a better than even chance though. Right now it's just figuring out what ship you're on.

Seems we have a wee bit of mystery on our hands here. All indications are that my Mini is on a ship. WW doesn't have a ship leaving until the 10th. NYK lines, MINI's other shipper doesn't have one leaving for SC until the 11th. Other people are also reporting being on ships. Mystery shipper? It's entirely possible but this would be pretty unusual from what I've read.

I'm another one waiting at the port. Marty at ASK MINI told me that cars can sit 7-10 days at port before they're loaded. He had no further info. My car was delivered to the port on 6-6, so I'm potentially only 2 days into a 10 day wait. Yikes!

Let's hope that all of us waiting at port sneak on earlier than 10 days!

motoringfile.com was reporting that MINI sales are down 5% or so about the time our production week would have been ordered. Factory is at least a day ahead. I'm hoping that 7 to 10 day wait at port is more indicative of them when they have more orders than they can handle. Just pure speculation.

I just called the line and the voice said my Mini is in production and will be finished on June 12. Maybe they'll hold Blackhat00's ship until my car is ready.
