Now that one I want to know how it goes and how you do it. I'd be interested in something like that.

Might even solve my GPS dilemma. I know I want GPS, didn't like the factory option. So now I'm wondering between TomTom, Garmin and a PDA solution. They all seem to have some pluses and minuses and I'm just not sure where to go with 'em. Putting a Mac Mini in my MINI would certainly narrow the choices down.

That is exactly what I was thinking. It could be your GPS, music storage device, DVD player, calendar... the list goes on. Hook up the wireless router in the house and you could sync it all up. I could write e-mail for my business and such while the wife is shopping and send them when I pulled in the drive.

I have priced it all out and it could be done for less than the GPS option of the MINI. I would wnat to all to look stock but I am sure some compromises would need to be made. I would like to use an in-dash monitor and stash the Mac Mini in the glovebox or maybe on the Parcel Shelf.

Right now it is a dream for down the road.

ASK- MINI just told me that my MC BRG is supposed to be complete on June 6. So does that put me in this (week 23) support group? I'm looking for a group to help me suffer through the wait!

Well seeing as most of us look like we're gonna get done about the same date give or take a couple days that makes you one of us it looks like. Welcome to the Week #23 support group! Alcohol and other chemical means to calm your nerves are in the back and will be promptly cut off I suspect no later than July 15th (giving you West Coasters time to get your I hope).

Seriously though, glad you're here. Welcome to the wait. Tell us about your MINI.

My completion date is scheduled for the 3rd and the owner's lounge even updated for me and I have a VIN assigned.

I'm really grooving on the idea though now that I've seen TVMax it's out for me. Gonna make a Mac Mini media center and I don't think I'll buy two. I'm really interested to know how you're going to make this work though. I love how roomy the MINI feels but it's a very effecient lay out, not a lot of room to spare.

I think I've about decided to go with a Palm TX running TomTom Navigation software with a Bluetooth GPS receiver. Much cheaper than the Mini factory Nav, decent reviews and it will replace my ancient Handspring Visor which I've been dying to do for ages now.

That's it! Lean and mean!

I'll probably lower it (I lower all my cars)
I might have the rims powder coated.

Like I said, this will be in the distant future (1-2 years). First performance mods. Pulley, air box, exhaust. And talking my wife out of the money for those will be a task.

Speaking of money, ATTENTION EVERYONE!!!! I don't know if everyone saw this but Classic MINI is offering 25% off accesories until May 31st. I jsut ordered about $400 worth of stuff (total only $300) and I get to pick it up being local. If you are going to get any stuff for the MINI now is the time to do it. It felt like it helped with the wait, somehow?!?

Nice! How much would powder coating the rims cost, do you think? The ol' S-Lites would look sweet in BLACK!!

I heard there was a place around here (well not RIGHT around here, but within an hour or two) that did excellent work and will do them for $40-$60 per wheel.

They did my buddy's Subaru STI and they looked great.

I like the design of the stock S wheels, and I think $200-ish would be a lot cheaper than new wheels.

That would be a great deal.. I like the S-Lites too. Everybody downs them but man they would look great in Black! May have to check into that.

My car is slated for June 5 completion and I already have my VIN number! I ordered it on May 19th.

On the Mini website, my status has been "On Production" since Tuesday. According to Marty at 1-866-ASK-MINI, the car only exists on paper. It takes about 6 days from start to finish to build, and they expect to begin actual building of it on Monday/Tuesday. After it's complete, my mini will sit around for a couple of days until it is transported to the dock--then the 10 day cruise. My mini will get off in South Carolina, where it will go on a train to my dealership

My MA and 1-866-ASK-MINI thinks I should have it home with me sometime in June. (I hope that that's not too optimistic!)

2006 MCSa Convertable
Pepper White
Black Leatherette
Anthracite Interior

Sport Package
DSC
17" S-lite run flats
Xenon Headlights
Front Foglights

Cold Weather Package
Heated Front Seats
Heated Mirrors
Heated Washer Jets

Multifunction Steering Wheel
Manual A/C
Chrome Interior
Audio Input jack

After it comes in, I think I am just going to have to add on some driving lights and, since I live in Indy, a checkered flag wind deflector.

Welcome to NAM and to the wait. June may be a little soon. I have no proof of that I just don't want to get my own hopes up.

Have you found the local club in Indy? I think there is a pretty active one.

Thanks for the welcome.

I already checked the website for the Indy mini club and am definitely thinking of joining in some of their activities --for example, a Sunday drive to see the covered bridges in southern indiana sounds nice. Also the Mini Takes The States event will be going through Indianapolis -- I got to join that!

But back to delivery dates, I checked the shipping site http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche...countryList.do
for possible dates of shipping and delivery.

Looks like the first possible boat that we might sail on will leave on June 10th, reaching charlestown on June 24. So it looks like there would be no way I would get it in June. What's worse, I will be leaving for vacation on July 1 and will be gone for 2 weeks! Then I willl probably not be united with my mini until mid-July.

Herozup,

My dog looks a lot like your dog.
Here's a picture of her from last Xmas.

Don't you think she will look great riding shotgun in a convertible?

Seems we got one of the only weeks they don't have a boat in port. Bummer. There is a ray of hope though. It's been reported that Mini is not only using WW for cargo freight but another company as well that does not have tracking. In principle we could get an earlier boat with that company but we won't know until around the 6th when our VIN won't show up in the WW logs.

Someone seriously needs to come up with an all encompassing tracking solution that would bring all the websites and hassle together in one place. I would pay a small fee for the time savings.

It's very possible actually, only take a couple days to go from factory to dock via train. You got better than even odds.

Even if you don't there's another boat leaving shortly afterwards. You going to South Carolina also?

I finally got a production week and therefore a Support group! I ordered my Mini 3 days ago and am already being told I'm week 23, with an estimated completion date of June 9th. Then I guess I'm hearing it will be about 3 weeks before it arrives here in O-town. Good things come to those who wait, right?

Totally unfair. I recommend that you go back to your dealer and demand a week 26 production date so you can participate fully in the MINI experience.

Welcome to Week 23, give us the stats.

BTW, while the dealer may know better my impression is that it will be around the 11th or so till your MINI gets to the docks and then a 2 week journey across the pond, 3 to 4 days minimum at the VDC then on a truck to your dealership.

wecome hyper kid. You got lucky getting week 23 after ordering at this time. I ordered mine almost a month ago, and i got week 23. i guess each dealer has to fill their assigned slots.

Blackhat, where are you finding the boating schedules and other schedules?
