I kinda like COOOOP myself, got that double thing going with your name and all.
Boy, I thought my 25mi commute in Phoenix was bad! Did you get the auto or standard? I really wrestled with this because obviously a standard is so much more fun, but the auto would sure be nice on the 50-minute stop&go drive home. Finally opted for the standard - figured fun should override sensibility with the MCS!

And thanks for your vote on the plate!

I'm fairly recently from PHX (3 years ago) and hoping to get back. I love it when I go down for a visit, the traffic is so much nicer to drive in, even rush hour.

I ended up going standard. I bought a MC instead of a MCS because I'm as interested in mileage as I am performance. I tried the automatic CV trannie and it was just horrible. I almost didn't buy the car because it was so mushy. Smack the accelerator down and wait, go grab a sandwich, have a smoke, come back and car is just beginning to accelerate somewhere.

I thought it was the small engine at first and built a configuration around a stripped down MCs. I went back to my MA and he suggested I try the stickshift first. WOW, what a difference. It will be a pain in the stop and go traffic but given how high the engine can wind up I'm hoping it won't be too bad.

Never have I seen a forum thread so aptly named as these Week XX Support Groups. I swear this wait is going to drive me to drink, drugs, or therapy. Maybe all 3.

BTW, scoped out your mini specs, blu... wow! That's a whole lot of MINI you got going on there. Expecting a full report on it as you're breaking it in.

I gotta ask though, and I debated asking this because I don't want to come off as criticizing, but of all the options I didn't see in there unless I missed it or got you mixed up with the other week 23 laundry list MINI, why no Mult-Function Steering Wheel? I'd have thought it'd be a natural with the HK system.

askMINI update

Called the automated line today, and it said that my MINI is "in production" and scheduled for completion on June 2nd. WOOHOO!!! Is anyone else getting this date now? I thought it would be completed the week of June 5th at the end of the week. I think I just gained a week!!

Looks like you got slipped into week 22 production, congratulations. Based on your post I just called up the automated line and got the same old tired: Your vehicle is scheduled for production. No producation date has been set.

Could go all over with this. I think I'm just going to get a standard plate but I'm tempted to see if BIGMINI is taken.

BTW, Coopermini, that could be a viable alternative for your vanity plate, go a little Italian on it: MINIMIA

I was wondering if anyone would notice that. But in actuality, I did get the MFSW. I kinda just forgot to list it with everything else. I always do that. If I don't forget that, it would be something else. I know when i was typing it, I had at least edited the post at least once or twice with things that I did forget.

I will let you know how the car is during break in. I just can't wait to get the car. The better part is that I told my friends that i'm getting the car, but I didn't tell them I'm getting the JCW package. They think i'm not getting it. That should be a nice surprise for em.

I have read that the website is always behind. If you really want to know where your car is, call 866-ASK-MINI and ask to speak to a human. They are helpful. I have talked to the same guy both times I called. (Maybe there is just one person working there.)

Oh, i did call. i just noticed that after i called and found out that my MINI was scheduled for production that it is still on order on the website.

as for the dude on the phone, was his name Jason? i think that's what the guy's name was that i talked to. I'll prolly call later on this week to see if there was a date posted for production.

I've been trying to be good and not call ASKMINI or check the never updated website but after reading the last few posts I gave up and called, 'The Voice' (love that description). My status has been updated. It's in production, estimated completion date is the 3rd.

WOOHOOOO!!!

Okay so I still don't have the car and at best it won't get delivered till the end of the month and that would be a minor miracle but still, it's a change in status.

So at least one of you has a planned upgrade path for your MINI and that got me to thinking about it as well. I've started a couple threads here and there concerning mods and such and right now the only planned upgrades I have are:

K&N Cold Air Intake
Angel Eyes driving lights
Cooper Contacts (Union Jack eyelids), yeah it's silly but I like it.
Euro Parcel Tray
Auto Dimming Rearview Mirror (ordered from Moss Mini, easy install, no garage door opener, much cheaper than doing it as an option from factory)

Possible:
MTH computer tuning
Alarm system
ClearBra

Related:
GPS device. Still can't decide which way I want to go on this, so many options.

What are you all planning on going with?

I hate waiting for anything. I am such an instant gratification person. If I order something, I always get next day shipping. Where is the option for next day shipping on my Mini!!! :impatient

It is called buying it off the lot and not getting exactly what you want.

I hear ya, I'm just as bad. Heck I even signed on for Amazon's yearly delivery rate so I could get cheaper overnight and free 2 day.

So if you're in week 23 AND you're going to east coast, you're MINI is probably going to be aboard the Courage. The 10th is the earliest boat leaving according to the WW shipping page. Here's the schedule. Bah, I got so excited I was scheduled to be done 10 days earlier than planned. Back to a early to mid July arrival after VDC and dealer prep. *sigh* :impatient

My wife made me promise that I would not do any major mods (intake, pulley, swaybar, possibly exhaust) for a year.

So I am doing a bunch of minor mods. Just goofy little stuff to make the car even more "mine". Parcel shelf, aero kit license plate holder in front, chrome grill, tint. i know it is nothing major, but I love to tinker.

When I bought my brand new motorcycle, I didn't have it two days before I started cutting things off and moving things around.

My ultimate mod is going to be the install of a Apple MAC Mini in the MINI. "I will do it, Oh yeah (directed at the wife) I will do it."

My first immediate mod is the clear bra. I will literally drive from the dealership to the clear bra guy. http://www.proformauto.com

do you have a link to this aero kit license plate holder?
