You're almost there. the wait will be worth it. I've had the MCS since 7/15 and have logged on 2500 miles. You will have so much fun and enjoyment with your mini

Minitenango, there might be something to that. Check out this site:

http://www.toptiergas.com/

A consortium of car companies including BMW created standards for proper detergent levels, and Shell is one of the only oil companies that meets their higher-than-government standards. I get my MINI this week sometime (yay!), and am scoping out where there's a Shell station near me. The other companies on the Top Tier list don't have stations anywhere near where I live...

Keep us posted on whether the problem goes away!

Thanks Swizzle - only 3 days now and it's getting harder to pass the time now without thinking about Scootr every minute! And I'm hoping being on curves a lot of the time will help me stay within break in guidelines.

As for the video, I'm really video challenged and no longer even own a video cam - gave it away! I will have my other baby (still camera) along and will shoot as often as I can stand to get out of the car for a break!

Very exciting about naming a curve after us! Awesome!

Well, I am down to about 50 miles on the range on my current tank of gas and have not had any bucking problems. I'll be going back to the Shell to fill up in the next day or so....

I have been having fun trying out all the Griot's Garage products on Minitenango. Trying to keep him looking good, but think i'm jinxed, every time I wash him, it rains the next day

Funny how when you're not obsessed with receiving a car that time flies by so quickly.

I love the list, so few left to fill in though I thought for sure Cooperminis would have had delivery by now. Only a couple more days, hang tight.

I'm past the break in miles now. A little nervous because while I made it a point to stay under 4500 RPM I did slip a couple times. Then there was the game of tag I played with a 911 on the freeway one day (oh for the S model that day) and I accidently kinda sorta noticed that I exceeded the MPH they talk about in the manual to never exceed during break in by about 5 MPH.

MiniYak has his first two booboo's, passenger side mirror got hit so hard with something that it ripped through and seperated the clearbra on it and left a nick in the mirror cover. $60 bucks or so to fix when I get to it. A dime sized dent from a careless SUV (isn't that a redundant statement?) parked next to me on the drivers side. Prolly can get it out myself, maybe not. *sigh*

My initial impressions are that it is just an insanely well engineered vehicle. I love driving it. I've not had any problems to speak of. It's fast, sporty, but very comfortable to me. The first car payment came and went and I barely flinched. Now, I gotta figure out what to do about cleaning it. The free dealer cleanings are just the suck and in one case left it dirtier than when it came in. I don't really have the space or place to bucket wash it. Ideas?

I noticed we've all slowed down a lot but glad we're still checking in from time to time. The wait went by much easier than it could have with you all, I hope we all keep in touch.

Cheers!

Hey Blackhat - sorry to hear about MiniYak. The mirror sounds like a quick fix, hopefully the dent can be easily remedied.

I hate being so uptight about where I park my new car but I also hate door dings. That was the beauty of driving around my prior ride, an 18 year old MB. I was cautious and tried to leave plenty of room but that doesn't always work out with so many land yachts around these days.

BTW - made it through the break-in! Now this little car is really fun when you rev it up and the supercharger sings its song.

Stir it up!

NO WAY!!! Packing up for the trip tomorrow!

A little bummed tho, as I got a call from my MA today who started out the conversation like this "I've got some bad news for you and I think you're going to be mad..." Well, I must say he was right! Turns out that even after all of my reminders (many, many reminders) my precious front bumper still wound up with HOLES drilled into it! I told him that he needs to find a 'clean' bumper on a PW that hasn't been drilled yet for exchange, and he said they don't have any. Believe me, by the end of the call he knew how angry I was, even tho I remained calm and never screamed, yelled, or otherwise blew my top.

He hadn't called by about 4 hours later so I called him and now he says "good news! We work with a great body shop down the street and they're going to get it fixed up good as new - you'll never know the difference." Oh, but I will... And what if it's not a crackerjack body shop and I get all the way home to AZ and several months/years from now have a problem?

Well, I've cooled off for sure, but am still not very happy... just hoping the joy of seeing Scootr will pull me through because a lot of the excitement has now cooled - I hate paying for and expecting something in pristine spankin' new shape, and getting otherwise

Whew, thanks for letting me vent - I must get back to packing! I'll check in with pics when I'm back next week.

Finally (almost) motoring:t humbsup:!

Hey cooperminis,

I've read elsewhere that the bumpers always have a very small holes for license plate mounting. They enlarge the holes when mounting. If you have a good dealer, then I would trust the body shop they choose. After all, they want to look good too. And once you are behind the wheel, the perspective changes. Good luck

sorry to hear about the bumper, i requested the same and was worried when i arrived there would be holes, I was relieved to see there were not, but they didnt take out the huge abnoxious cup holder as i had asked, that is a pretty minor fix compared to the bumper holes, hope everything works out for you.

The holes in the front of the bumper are not there to start with... they are just drilled by hand into it... I checked the last time i was at VDC in Oxnard... Maybe no matter how many times you tell them NOT to put it on they feel they have to by law?...

At least the bumperplugs.com website i was recommended came through and the color matches nicely... felt weird though drilling into my bumper to make the holes bigger (needs 1/4" diameter to accept the bumper plugs...)

Good luck with the new car when you pick it up...
Check your sidemarkers before you leave the dealership... The tabs that hold them in place had been broken when they buffed the car out with an electrich wheel... I got about 2 miles down the freeway from the dealership before they popped out and I heard them banging around...

sorry to hear about that bumper. I remember I told my MA to make sure he did not drill into the bumper. He wrote it down, and he didn't drill into the bumper.

Yeah, that sucks. My dealership drilled holes in my bumper as well, even though I told them not to. They claimed that they get the cars that way. Riiight... I didn't bring it up at the time, but after checking here at NAM, it sounds like there are NO holes drilled in other people's bumpers when they request NO HOLES, so even small ones can be prevented. It sucks, but it's my biggest complaint about the transaction, so I guess I can't be too upset! My car is great :D

sorry about the holes cooperminis.....Been thinking of you this morning! All will be well as soon as you lay eyes on your baby!
They definately are drilled at the dealer....I totally forgot about asking my MA to not drill holes, I bought it in Ohio where they require front plates, but I live in Michigan & my MA figured I would not want holes, so did not have them drilled....my MA is a good guy!

Hi all! Well, Scootr and I have finally been united and it feels GREAT!

It was my MAs day off so another gal at the dealer did the unveiling and she was the best (THANKS Rene!). I have to say they did a GREAT job... they had found a new bumper at a body shop they use - it was black so they painted it PW and it looks fantastic - my heart is no longer heavy worrying about those darn holes! I was ready to dispute 'fluff' charges, but to my surprise there were none, and no pressure to purchase any extras of any kind.

Being in a strange area of town in a different state, I was a little nervous driving the 30 miles to my Mom's house, but this morning when I got in to go to my Dad's it felt completely natural. Last night I remember thinking 'this break-in thing will be easy, I don't even feel the need to rev it up that high'... but then this morning when I felt more comfortable I've already found myself right at that line several times... hmmmmm maybe not so easy?!

Dad wanted to have his birthday lunch in the mountains so that's where we are now - he's elderly and doesn't get around too well so we're in the Georgetown Library where he can take a rest for a while... thought I'd just check in with you all. No pics yet, that will have to wait till I get home. It's been so cool, as I saw several Coopers on the way up here - of course they're MINI enthusiasts on their way to MITM so I got BIG honks, waves and smiles - so FUN Zyamfier with his Dragon Wagon (look for a post of his to see his trailer) was one of the people who passed my - easy to recognize and very cool looking in person!)

Thanks all for hanging in there with me - I'll get pics off Monday or Tuesday to detail Scootr's changing look throughout the weekend!

Wow! No new posts in 2 days! Everyone must be out motoring. I sure have been...the last 2 days have been absolutly BEAUTIFUL here in mid Michigan. I am very close to break in...only took me a month! Pretty good for me! I usually only put on about 3000 miles a year! LOL

Funny things happened while motoring yesterday... I actually had a person point at us & gesture to his companions to look.....then a dude on a motorcycle was gawking at Gypsy & almost rear-ended the car in front of him! It was funny!
