Just wondering where the rest of the week 23'rs are in the mileage count. How many miles, guys?

Hi Jayne,
Ohhh so close to the break in point. Got to be patient. Gypsy is looking good. We're getting all revved up to go to Lime Rock for the end of the Mini Takes the States. Should be quite a lot of fun. I'll be sure to take plenty of pics and video

!Only a few more miles left for you - believe me, the car is SOOOOO much more fun after break-in! Luie doesn't even wake up till 4500rpm, and really gets to feeling good anywhere above
! Give it a try as soon as you get the chance!

Well, I'll tell ya a secret....I was fired 7/29, so I have LOTS of time
My company imposed impossible quotas so the office is slowly being decimated. First time in my life I've been unemployed...I already have some leads, but I think I'll take the rest of the summer off

I got one word for you Jayne since you have some free time, MTTS!!
so has anyone joined any of their local MINI clubs in their area?
I know I have and it's a lot of fun!

I joined the local club before I even got Luie, and met some of the members for the first time at MINIs in the Mountains when I picked up the car. My husband is still not too 'into' the whole MINI thing (or cult, as he calls it
) so it's kind of hard getting him to get interested in joining for events. We did go meet some of the group last weekend at a car show and at least he liked them, so I think I'm getting him headed in the right direction
! We did miss a local run this morning though, since I was out late last night and he's busy remodeling the kitchen for me
. That project should be done in about 3 weeks, maybe then I can get him out for a run!
BTW, I'm at 1750mi now and having waaaaay too much fun - I'm finding the 'spirited' driving style so much fun

it's fun to have spirited driving with other MINI owners. I try to leave the spirited driving for the weekends. with the amount of driving I do for work, there is no need for me to be doing any spirited driving during the weekdays. I would be out of warranty within the year. Already over 5000 miles, and Sylvia will be 7 weeks old on MOnday!

Hey Bluminiboy,
Did you do any legs of MTTS? I was fortunate enough to catch the last one from JC to LimeRock, CT. What a blast. I took some pics but others did better. The best part was driving up. No traffic, clear twisty roads and great weather. Couldn't have asked for more. I love having a Mini.

I'm so envious of you bluminiboy and swizzle
! MITM was great, and that was just a small fraction of what MTTS was - I can only imagine! Can't wait to hear about it and see those pics
.
And swizzle, I second that - I love having a MINI!

I got to do the DC to JC leg. took the alternate route. We went to Nutt's drive-in. Great run. Had lots of fun. We missed each other by a day!
The best part was causing a traffic jam in this little town called New Hope in NJ. The whole street was lined up with MINI's. I think we were the attraction of the whole town for about 45min. everyone was looking and a lot of people were asking.

Just checking in, glad to see the Week 23 thread still on top! Love the new name also. I am at 1444 miles. It was a hard week for Minitenango last week, as there was a little incident at a stop light. I was first in line waiting for the light to change, I checked my rear view and noticed the guy behind me looked to be very very close to my back bumper, he had his shades on and was busy with his coffee, seeing the light change, all i can imagine is that he let up off the brake, between that an Minitenango rocking back slightly when i took my foot off the brake, we touch bumpers
I hoped and prayed that there was no damage, but no luck there, there is an impression of a license plate screw in my back bumper
Part of which went through the clear coat and paint. I have some touchup ordered from the dealer. Alas, I can only imagine this will be the first of Minitenango's battle scars.
Hoping and praying the touchup will help.

... ack!
I've misrepresented our MINI since the month of June in this thread and have just realised it right now while looking up the VIN on the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge for the "secret black box" ad campaign...
I'm so sorry but I somehow missed this in the first 2.5months of ownership... So let's set the record straight: CROC#200 was not made during Week 23... Rather it was made on Thursday June 01, 2006 - so that's week 22. My apologies to all...

- really sorry to hear about Minitenango's recent bump. It may be just my imagination, but it seems like people like to get nice and close-up when I'm in my MINI:impatient'. Hope the repair goes well.Luie will be making his first trip to the dealer tomorrow - nothing serious I'm sure, but I have a bit of a 'stumble' when going thru the 3000-3200rpm range and want to see if there's any kind of fix for it. From what I've read here on the forum there's really no definitive fix but it's worth a try. A little worried tho, as the service advisor I spoke with obviously doesn't believe me and says he's never heard of anything like that before (he must not get to NAM very often!).
Oh, and Eric, of course you're still welcome here - lucky you, to have two support-groups-full of MINI friends!
Eric, of course you are still welcome!
USCoops, good luck with Luie.
It drives me crazy how close people get, IMHO, people should give us just as much space as a standard vehicle, just because we are smaller doesn't mean we deserve less space than anyone else. How many times have you come out from a store and found a big SUV parked right on the line! I wonder if they think, oh, look, more room to park my oversized vehicle, I'll use this space next to the mini..Grrrrrrrrr

What I started to realize was that there is no trunk or "boot" on the back of our cars so objects in the mirror Are closer and appear that way too. Still, I get the feeling that some drivers of large American pickup trucks like to see how close they can get to the rear end to emphasize their largeness. I only worry when they're on the cell phone, smoking a cig, drinking coffee and coming up fast.
Hope Minitenango gets fixed up soon. Perhaps in a few years, the week 23'rs will be swapping scar stories.
Hey Luau Luie, I sometimes get that little stumble around 3k too. I'll have to mention when I take it in. Other than a couple of very minor trim squeeks, I have no complaints.
Motor on!

Well, I didn't wind up at the dealer today... the service advisor had been so disbelieving (not to mention that I didn't want to part with Luie so soon
) that I called and told him I'd pin the problem down a little more myself and then bring it when I had firmer info. He said he'd talked to a few of his associates about the issue, and the consensus was "yep, that's what the MINI does", and that's it - no fix
. There are numerous NAM threads on the issue with almost as many 'near fixes' but nothing firm that I can see. It's annoying as *&%# so at some point I'll wind up in service just to see if mine is worse than most and maybe something else is involved, but till then...
