Go do a track day with your Mini

After doing two Phil Wick events on the track. Laguna Seca and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, I can say without any hesitation that your should search for the next track day in your area and sign up immediately. http://www.minidriving.com/

I am now signed up for The Big Mini Day at Thunderhill Raceway. http://www.bigminiday.com/

Most of them cost about $300 and you get a solid 1.5 to 2.5 hours of real track time throughout the day.

You can do them COMPLETELY stock, you don't have to touch a thing on your car. Of course making some small changes does make it more fun. See my post on easy mods. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...453#post935453

The only downside is you really start to hate to drive your Mini in a daily commute kind of setting, because you keep waiting for the next time you can push the limits on a track.

HAPPY MOTORING!

!! WARNING !!

Track days can be addictive, and used improperly can lead to wallet depletion, hours spent contemplating tire and pad purchases, muscle aches related to smile responses, and carpal tunnel syndrome from searching the Internet for the next available event. Users have been known to study the proper line for steering shopping carts in grocery stores. Participants with open minds and humble attitudes report enhanced abilities, better situational awareness, and increased vision. Smiles that last for more than 4 hours should be referred to competent medical professionals.

Sounds like the Richard Petty Driving Experience I did !! For our 10th wedding anniversary I surprised my husband with a RPDE. He drove @ 140mph. I got to ride in one (not w/him) @ 160mph. That was 5 years ago and when I start talking about it, even to this day, my blood starts pumping, my heart starts pounding. Better than any thrill ride! My daughter turned 14 last year so that's what we're getting her. We'll do it at Talladega, possibly in Nov. this year.
When I get more feel my MINI (I've only had her just over 2 wks) I would love to do a track day and the Driving School!1

Be sure to check out the BMWCCA schools, too. The one I did 2 weeks ago at Putnam Park was a 2-day event and only cost $350. Instruction is top-notch!

Are you going to put 1200 miles on it before your track day?

Yup, thats the plan. I live in the Bay Area, but the car was sold in San Diego. Im going from San Deigo, to Vegas, back to LA and up 101. I should be golden by the time I get to Thunderhill...
