First post and recently switched from wanting a Toyota FJC to the Mini Cooper. Gas prices kind of made the choice easier.
Well the dilemma I face is that I prefer to order my MCS but I don't really want to wait 6-8 weeks driving my 12mpg suv. A MCS was offered to me but had two packages I did not want and was more than I want to spend. It seems I'm probably going to order to save a few thousand.

I live in Houston and I'll probably order from Mini of the Woodlands even though I live down the street from the other Houston Mini dealer. So does anyone out there have any experience to how much an average wait is, does it usually take the whole 8 weeks or can it be much less? I read someone here received delivery in about4-5 weeks from ordering. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Factory order

needs to be built, and shipped. Figure the full 6-8 weeks, unless you get very, very lucky on timing!

what he said^^^^

Also, gas prices might be high now, and make you not want to wait while driving your SUV, but the MINI is definitely worth the wait. Especially one that's specced exactly like you want it.

The Kansas City dealer

has over 50 in stock. You may be able to get what you want or very close to it, today!

There's dealers with tons in stock that will ship pretty cheap... Some should be listed on the NAM vendor list... Also check Vendor announcements for them stating they have a large stock.

Chances are, the Mini you want may already be waiting for you on their lot.

I heard it also depends on how long by what options you put on the car and if you order a Cooper or a Cooper S.

Ordering from a dealer on the east coast will decrease your wait time on delivery. Make it a road trip and drive it home. It would be the best trip of your life!

As mentioned in posts above, there are many dealers around the country with good stock right now. You may find what you want/need or cose to it if you can afford to take on an extra package. A GOOD MA will locate a car close to what you want by searching the inventory of other dealers.

Good luck!

Hi Revo,

Houston here too. I test drove an MCS at Mini of the Woodlands on April 1st, ordered one in Purple the same day and it was finished being built April 20 and is on the boat now due to dock next week in SC,,, should roll into the Woodlands and be ready for pick-up by the 10-12th. All in all, about 6 weeks. Keith is a good guy at Mini of the Woodlands.

I had looked at the FJ (have an element now) and then went out to the Woodlands really just to look at a Mini close up and drive one... that was it and the checkbook came out.

Only advice I can give you is place the order, get it rolling in and you will be happier in the end getting exactly what you want. From what I understand, the other dealer charges a dealer service charge that if ordering from the Woodlands, you wont pay. That service charge will probably pay for the gas in your SUV to get the ride just the way you want it.

6 weeks isnt really that long....I waited almost 6 months for mine! You might also check as someone said with dealers out on the East Coast as the wait times are alot less depending on what you order.

Just ordered mine yesterday and decided to go with a HB/W MC. Financially this is safer option till I finish Grad school. Then I might move on to the MCS.
Now I'm just waiting to here from my MA and hope it gets here by mid summer.:impatient

I also need a name for it but I want to call it by my nickname which is my name here, any suggestions?

Take the time and order it as you like it. It may suck now, but two years from now you won't even remember the wait, and you'll have exactly what you want!

When I was purchasing mine, my father offered this advice:

"This is the car of your dreams: make it the car of your dreams."

And I won't lie... the wait was horrible. Everyday checking its status... calling MINIUSA to figure out where it was. But it's all worth it on the day your MA calls you and says you can pick it up.

Oh... the rapture... the joy!
