I spoke with my MA earlier today and was told that my MCS was unloaded in New Jersey. He said that he wouldn't expect to see the car until next week; I ordered from MINI of the Hamptons.

He explained the process, which basically (for me) is: Once MOTH has the vehicle, he'll call me letting me know that they will be FedExing all the paperwork (including the financing papers, if I wanted) and I would FedEx it back. From there, they would make arrangements with their carrier company...autolog. Autolog, apparently, now ships cars by train directly from NY to Seattle. This has changed as they used to ship by train to L.A. and then by uncovered truck to Seattle.

He said that I should allow 3 weeks for the cross-country trek. Ugh! I had myself convinced that I would be motoring in mid-May, but it looks like maybe Memorial Day(ish).

 

he/she will be called Elmo... but it depends on how that fits once we meet. That's my 14 month old's favorite stuffed animal right now.... And since he/she's CR, it seems appropriate. Incidently, my baby (the human one) said his first word over the weekend. The word was 'car'. I think he must hear me talking about my mini constantly and picked up on it.

 

I just spoke to my MA at Mini of the Hamptons and he confirmed that my baby is in final processing and should be out to them by Thursday or Friday at the latest!!!!!! Now I am kicking myself because I had no idea it would be ready by this Sat. They will only take a certified check so I have to move money around (let it clear) and then get the check. There is no way this can all happen by Sat (I don't think anyway.) So I will have to wait until next weekend . I want my mini now!!!!! but I am so hyped that he/she? is almost ready.

 

so I begged and pleaded with the bank and they are going to expedite making the funds available which means.... if everything stays on schedule, I should pick up my new mini on Sat!!! yeh!!!!! Wish me luck and send fast mini vibes to my baby!

 

I don't name machines. They either tell you their name, or not.. Most cars haven't told me their names. My 77 Chevy van is Moby Jane. (the great brown whale) My VW powered race plane is Mouser. (she's a ***** cat.. with claws) But they are the only machines that have told me their name in years. I'll bet the MINI tells me right away whether its a boy, girl, or ...animal.

Just checked with my MA, and we're due in on May 1, also. So, the shuffleboard tournament/pool lounging has been going on all the time, just on a different boat.. and, sooner than expected.

My MA also advised me that mine is due in Charleston on May 1 although I don't know the name of the ship. She also said it will take about 7-10 days to go through the VDC and on to the dealer. The WW shipping site still has it waitlisted for the Patriot.

 

I think we should all boycott and completely ignore the ww site. Well, except for those of you who were actually "loaded" onto a ww vessel. The rest of us can be excited about hanging out on some unknown ship somewhere between here and the UK!

I agree with Kate regarding the WW site, I don't think we can trust the info there as long as it says we're booked from one ship to another. I tried to find out today if my car was on a K-Line ship, but ran into a dead end.
K-Line does not track vehicle cargo by VIN number, they need a bill of lading number. I then tried to call ASK-MINI to see if by chance they had a BOL number attached to my order, but no dice there. The associate at ASK-MINI told me to check with my MA, maybe they would have that info. I figured at this point I've bugged my MA too much as it is, that I'd just wait a week and see what happens. If any of you come up with a BOL number, I have a 866 number for K-Line Vehicle Cargo, you can call them and see if in fact they have your car on one of their boats.

 

At least you guys are on a ship already , my Mini has been sitting at the dock since 14 April waiting for a ship headed to the West Coast

At least my Mini has company as there are some Week 14 and 16 Minis also waiting for a ship. They are all probably playing Texas Hold 'em, soaking up the great UK sunshine and eating bangers and mash all day while they are waiting.

 

I got a BOL from my MA, but I wrote it down at work and forgot to bring it home. Doh!

Anyway...

I check the k-line site and according to their schedule there is no ship scheduled for May 1 arrival at SC... only May 4 (which is what my MA told me). Maybe the May 1 delivery is optimistic with the weather??

I just checked the Owners' Lounge and my MCS is showing up as being at the distribution center. When I check the review order details, it has been updated as being expected at the dealer on 4/27/06 (Thursday)! Woohoo!

I am also inbetween week 14 and 15. After I read Flankman's post I went and checked the miniusa site and I saw this:

Now the countdown begins... 6 days and counting.

 

I believe there is a boat showing up on the 30th, that might be the one. Anyway, this is the number for K-Line Vehicle Cargo, 866-233-6875. Let us know what they say.

 

The dealership will be done with my MINI on monday!!!!!!!!!!!! Putting the aero kit on and some other things!!!!!! MONDAY MONDAY MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!

 

I received an e-mail from my MA this early evening saying that my MCS arrived today!!! He also asked for me to fax him a copy of my insurance certificate (specifically for the MINI) and drivers' license to him. I guess this means that I've got to get it insured already. We haven't even discussed in great detail payment for the car. Is this weird? Why would he need my drivers' license? I'm not planning on financing with MINIUSA. I've never bought a brand new car before, so this experience is...well...new to me.

 

They asked me to do the same thing and I still have about a week or two until the MINI arrives. They just do this so that there's less wait time for you when you go to the dealership to pick up the car. The last thing you want to do is wait for paperwork while your MINI is waiting to be driven :impatient

 

they pre-register your car with the DMV in your state... that's why they need insurance and drivers licence. Congrats.... I just faxed my DL over this morning. I am still hoping for a Sat pick up.

 

I just spoke to the dealership to make sure we're on for Sat and they told me that car was damaged when being put on the truck to get to the dealer. Consequently, the rim is scratched and they need to order a new one. This SUCKS . Because some stupid truck loader was not careful with my baby, I probably will have to wait an entire week more to pick up. The MA is going to call me back b/c they 'might' still get the car tomorrow and be able to have it ready by Sat but I am doubtful. Poop.... I am poopy now.

 

That's crappy, Flankmank. But today's Saturday...I hope you take delivery today!
