Well, here's a twist

I just got off the phone with my MA. Apparently, my MINI is on a boat called the Franconia, from K-Line. Voyage number FRA0140BSC

It did leave Southampton on 1/27 and is heading for South Carolina with an expected arrival of 2/8.

I'm off to hunt this sucker down!!!

Hi Dave, I'm from production week 5, and am fortunate enough to catch up with you guys Funny it will arrive on the last day of Feb. I doubt that's good enough to beat the price jump though.

. . . hmmmm. Regretably looks like maybe K-Line doesn't have quite the user friendly cargo tracking system WW does.

My VIN isn't in this list, so either I'm on the DON CARLOS, or I continue to be REALLY hosed.

Stef & fingershooter: do you see your VIN in this list?

--dwf

ps: The DON CARLOS is almost at the Azores...

I didn't see my VIN on the Don Carlos list! All the numbers are higher then my VIN so I can only hope I'm on the Don Carlos with everyone else!

DWF,

I did not see my VIN on that list either, so we are both in the same boat. Either on the DON CARLOS or really hosed. I am hoping for the former.

Nope. Now it makes sense, I'm not even on a WW vessel

But it doesn't look like they ship to Port Hueneme. So where did we West Coasters go?

Other Shipping Lines?

  • K-Line doesn't seem to ship to the west coast; can't search by VIN
  • Maersk Sealand, can't search by VIN
  • NYK Line (shipped the BMW 3-series from this page) makes you register for non-container search. They must validate your address/etc. before they give you access, so my dummy values won't let us in.
Anyone know of other shipping lines?

Google serach on "VIN cargo search" points to WW site first, then the MIN2 FAQ and various NAM threads.

So we may be out of luck. Or fingershooter and I just need to be willing ourselves to be on the DON CARLOS.

I'll email my MA again...

The Franconia is heading straight for South Carolina, so I think there's a bunch of us on it. Call your MA, mine had all sort of info on the shipping. They had access to an internal BMW site which allowed them to track by VIN#.

Can anybody figure out how to track the Franconia? Somebody posted a Coast Guard link I think ...

I really think we are on the DON CARLOS and they are merely having some clerical issues. The dates that my MA told me about departure times and arrival times match that of the DON CARLOS. I suppose it is possible that another ship left Southampton headed toward CA with the same schedule carrying MINI's and BMW's, but I have my doubts.

I will continue to monitor the DON CARLOS as if yours and my MINI's are on that boat.

Integrity Loaded - Sails in 2 Hours

Wallenius Willhelmsen finally updated their site and it looks like Integrity's loadup is complete. She's set to sail in a couple of hours and we should be able to watch via the Southhampton Ports Radar updates. Remember, you can see if your VIN made the loadup by entering the booking # for Integrity's voyage: GBSOU393990 into the WW's tracking tool, then selecting the "printer friendly" version for the complete list. Looks like yet again, about 10% of the cars didn't make it onboard (waitlisted) - this is what happened to me a few days ago with the Boheme. But not today - by all indications I'm good to go! Every finger and toe in my possession is saying:

Wait, I was wrong. No I'm not. I didn't know you had to track by booking number to see that. :-/

I entered Bluzeke's Booking Number (GBSOU393990) to see if I made it on the boat. 109 results were returned and I wasn't among them.

Then I searched by my VIN and was told that I was Booked and Loaded on the Vessel.

Very confused by this point....

Searched the list 4 more times and I still counldnt find my VIN.

Then I searched by my Booking Number (GBSOU393988). THAT number returned 506 results

I was totally confused then realized that Bluzeke is getting off in New York and I'm going along to Charleston. So, if you're searching for NY, use GBSOU393990 and if you're searching for Charleston use GBSOU393988.

I think that is right.... The booking number is a collection of VINs by port of discharge. On Elektra, 110 were discharged last Sunday in NYC with my car in the bunch.

ONE MORE WEEK !!! My MA sent me an email indicating that my MINI was received into the dealer's warehouse Friday morning and they it should be ready by Thursday or Friday next week. All the financing is ready to go and I just need to get the insurance extended to the new car before then.

I ordered the kitchen sink so it will take them a couple days to handle it all - JCW suspension, alarm kit, and a bunch of other dealer options.

Bill
