hey all
i am not a car person as yet but am slowly finding out more!
i have a burning question----> what is the difference between a mini one and a mini cooper??
would be eternally grateful for the answer to this!!!!
many thanks
The mini one is only offered in europe. It's basically a cheaper/more economical version of the mini. It's primary purpose is to be a gas miser, so it doesn't come with a lot of the features (alloy wheels, contrasting roof color, etc) that come standard on the Cooper.
If you live in the U.S., it's a non-issue though, since it is not sold here.
MINI One is a diesel powered MINI that was thought not to have enough HP (don't remember the actual #) to survive in US markets but is avalible in europe.
I believe the One has a detuned engine and fewer standard amenities.
Quite honestly, you'll get better answers from the folks over at MINI2.com - they're UK based, thus will have experience with the One. On this side of the pond, we only get the Cooper and the Cooper S - no MINI One.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that all Ones are diesels. I think the One's horsepower is around 90.
The MINI One comes has 2 powerplant options. Petrol (Gas for you AMERIKANZ) 90 Brittish hp 140 lb/ft torque and Diesel 75 Brittish HP 180 lb/ft torque, and gets 58.8 MPG!
