Hey. I'm loving your generally stripped spec.
A few thoughts:
1) Look into buying out of state (e.g Classic in OH). You'll have it in less than 3 months and might not be much worse off in total cost with shipping. (~$100 per every month reduction in wait time).
2) Drop the factory Nav and add something aftermarket (Garmin, TomTom) if you really want it. Cheaper, better and easier to update. You also keep the all-important center speedo.
2) Definitely consider the LSD (maybe in place of Xenons). It will be $500 very well spent.

I am buying it out of state. wait is still 9 months, I have a friend in the state im buying it in and i'm usung their address to register the car. The only way i can afford the navi is to buy it as part of the car. I like the way it looks in the car. it fits nicely. Once i start haveing payments, i wont have the monry to buy it later. I need wheels first. and thats going to take me some time to save up for. as far as head lights any thing is better than the shitty ones i have now on my golf, trust me, my golf sux for light.
i've been looking at mini options for the past 6 months. Im happy with what i picked out. I'll be happier once it gets here!

Maybe he wants to add the back up camera later???
What I would do is to burn my MP3's to CD-R [as the factory radio will read and play them]. Take the $$$ that was going towards the iPod adapter [and the price of the iPod if you dont have one yet] and throw that towards the LSD. Also consider ditching the "7" Piano Black dash another $200 towards the LSD.

I've had the chance to take a few of these cars home that have navi, and i knew i wanted on my next car. I have over 200k on my 2000 vw golf. i travel alot. and i plan on traveling via mini al over the US when i get it.
im not looking to dayon run my mini all the time. I dont need the LSD. It will be my daily driver.. might do some sound work on it for show. but all and all, i need this car to last long like my poor golf. i drove over 200k in 5 years and i need to mini to dothe same

A bit of MINI Etiquite for you. "MINI" refers to the new MINI built in the 21st century in England under BMW ownership Seen in the remake of "The Italian Job" with Marky Mark Walburg and Charleze Theron. The one where the cars "Live" at the end of the movie. "Mini" refers to the Clasic Mini of the 20th century with out german infulence. Seen in the original "The Italian Job" [and later the same footage was used in the pilot episode of MacGuiver] starking Michael Kane. They got what they deserved after they killed the Minis!

You'll save major $$, get better mileage, a real spare tire (and no expensive runflats to replace), a cleaner looking front end, and have a car that is 92% as fun to drive as the S. Trust me - I've put more than 30k on both. Don't even bother with the $500 SS-plus suspension option, just throw a 19mm aftermarket rear sway bar in for $200 and you're done. Don't believe the S hype - the Cooper effing rocks!!

But you will pay mightily for that extra kick, and it really sucks to get in over your head with debt when you're young. Don't risk your credit rating unless you have to.

9 months?!?!?!
wow... I ordered my MCS Saturday (dealer actually ordered it today) and they're saying it's taking between 4 and 5 weeks for cars to arrive (to New Jersey)! My dealer didn't make any promises but he said that when ordering this time of the year cars often appear even sooner as BMW wants to get the sale on the books for end-of-year. 9 months sounds really odd to me!

I wonder why...
I can't imagine it takes 8 months to get to Cali from whereever the port of entry is (I assume the eas coast?)! MINI's are wildly populare here too... whats the deal? Hell... you can buy one off the lot here if you want! It might be worth buying it here and driving it back west.
yeah the reason isnt exactly the trip over... its that dealerships are alloted a certain amount of cars a month and everywhere in the west happens to be very low. one reason for this, iam sure, is they can ship more cars to the eastern ports easily.
i say get it from classic in ohio and drive it back. that what me and my friend are both doing. they are awesome at classic. you can order now and take delivery in december
