New owner in Arizona

Hello from Prescott, AZ!
Got my '03 S two weeks ago in Redondo Beach. Tried to drive around LA on the Angeles Crest highway, but it was closed (without any notices) about halfway, had to backtrack about 10 miles with no traffic!
Learned to drive with a '77 Honda Civic CVCC, then got an '87 Honda Civic Si, then a '57 Chevy 4-door station wagon (no, not a Nomad), and I just parked my '91 VW Jetta GLI. I have done 7 auto-crosses with the Jetta; beat only one MINI (dumb luck).
I'm 6'-3", guess what the most common question is? I'm getting about as much attention as the '57 Chevy got!
Another thread was about MINIs being chick cars. The previous owner was a woman, and she thought of my car as a guy. If I consider my car as "she", would that mean my car would be a transgendered? Took a friend who called it a chick car for a ride, he had to clean his shorts afterward.
And this is the first time I ever joined a chat room (I'm computer illiterate)!

Hey, I grew up in Redondo Beach. My mom still lives up that way. The road up there isn't much (straight, no twistys and such , would be very boring, except for the ride in Molly, my Mini. ). I live in Oceanside now. However, if you or anyone else for that matter are up that way, you might try cruzin' around Palos Verdes. It's a nice drive and Portugese Bend would probably be fun too (the road is sliding off into the ocean and they have to re-pave it all the time. You never know if it's going to twist and turn or drop out from under you ). Molly and I haven't been that route yet, but I have in other cars and it was a blast! Have fun in your new Mini!

Not a Chat Room!

Welcome! I'm 6' 3" also...I probably get even more looks since my MCS and I are in Guatemala.

Enjoy you MINI and don't worry if it is transgendered or not!

By the way...this isn't a chat room. Ask again in six months and we'll explain it to you!

Saludos!

YES! Jerome and Sedona are desinations. Very well maintained. Also very well patrolled! Dare I say the best mountain road around. Copperstate vintage car rally kind of stuff.

Thanks! I'll introduce you to the owner of the only biker bar in Prescott, who has owned a MCS longer than I have. And whoever likes to check out antique stores can visit my wife's store next door (oops, can I plug a non MINI business?).

Welcome from Oceanside, CA. We were just out your way over a long Labor Day weekend... Love Prescott - reminds me of the town we used to live in back in Virginia....Also spent part of a day driving to Jerome - had lunch at the Haunted Hamburger - great place.!! Our main base while staying there was Sedona...

Anyway - great to have you here on NAM...

Third AZ MINI owner!

Welcome to NAM! I don't often get farther north than Phoenix, I'm afraid...but I know you've got some great highways up there to test your MINI on. Come on down to Tucson sometime and we'll drive Mt. Lemmon!

Hi, Thanks! I grew up in Tucson, moved away in 1980. The road from the Caverns to Vail had a killer dip (i.e. zero gravity at +-40mph). Mt. Lemmon would be sweet. Been looking for an excuse to visit my friend with several Ferraris (I'm sure none of you would be interested... ).

Track day!

I posted two pictures from my track day at Firebird International Raceway's west track. The quality really sucks compared to some (okay ALL) of you. That happens when a camera is shoved into a friend's hands just before going out. But they are unusal pictures, of a MINI actually being driven, fast!

I highly recommend taking at least one of their Performance Driving Program classes. Surf www.ProAutoSports.com I've done 7 autocrosses with my Jetta, but I thought the MCS would like some real track time!

Wow, I started here over 6 years ago!
And I still haven't been deleted because of some stupid political comment or other troll activity!

Hi Kurt. Congrats on the 6 years on NAM. Best site ever.

As I mentioned to you a couple of weeks ago I ordered the 2012 cabrio in Lightning blue, British flag mirror caps and scuttles. Now to get the CUBE sold to help pay for the new baby. I don't regret it. I've wanted one since they came out.

Just need to come up with a name for him. Glad Swifty is still doing ok!
