Question for folks with JCW kit

I hope to be ordering my 06 MCS soon, but was wondering from those who have or have driven Mini's with the JCW pkg if it is worth the $5000 extra bucks.

Thanks

I would suggest using the search function on this site - there is quite a bit of info on this subject already...

I am waiting patiently to pick up my MCS JCW, about three weeks to go. In making my own decisions, I spent a lot of time digging through this forum, and found most of my questions answered.

It's more than $5,000 extra ...

The factory installed JCW Package, which includes the JCW Engine Tuning Kit, JCW Brake Kit and LSD, is $6,300 but either the Sport Package ($1,400) or Checkmate Package ($2,200) must be ordered along with it.

The dealer installed JCW Engine Tuning Kit is $4,775 plus at least 10 hours of labor charges.

Well, the answer for me is yes, it's worth it. I ordered my 2006 MCS last week with all the JCW factory and dealer installed options. The JCW Engine Tuning Kit that included, a bigger Supercharge, Heads, Air Intake, Exhaust, and Big Braks totaled up to just around $6,300.00. I also orderd the dealer installed JCW Suspension ($990.00) which is stiffer than the MCS "Sports Suspension" plus the JCW 18" Wheels with Preformance Tires for ($2,200.00). So, the engine tuning kit alone was over $6G's ! I guess it all bowles down to what makes you heart beat fast.

I know this probable didn't do much to help you make up your mine or answer many of your questions. I think spending the extra $$$ for something like the JCW kits is a personal thing more than anything else. I opted to buy the JCW factory installed kits becasue condutions were right ($$$$) for me when I placed my order. Two months ago or maybe two months from now that may not have been the case.

Now that I've clouded the issue with BS I hope you're able to make the decision that's right for you. Either way you can't go wrong with a MCS !

Ask around how many ppl have the 18" JCW wheels. I really don't know the answer but I would guess very few .... I think they are far more popular in Europe (from what I see on mini2) but not so much here.

I dont have it, but for the 2006 model you can get it from the factory in a cool kit, and plus you probably save some money on it too. I would definitely get it. The JCW have good power too. Plus you can add to it if you needed to.

I have the JCW package on my 05 MCS. You can feel the difference compare to a regular MCS.

You can buy an exhasut, pully, software and intake cheaper... but I think the warranty and the "package" was worth it for me.

The fact that the Factory JCW kit includes the brake package and the LSD on top of the engine kit makes more than worth it, for htose that can afford $30,000 plus.

Wish I could have afforded that myself, but have no regrets on going MC.
Cheers

For those that decide to spend the $6000 for the JCW kit, it is worth the trouble/expense and they get a warranty from JCW (not MINI). Most owners are happy but that reflects making a well informed decision.

For those that decide not to spend the extra $$$, they can leave things stock or do other power mods or handling mods for considerably less expense but they get no warranty.

So do you want a warranty for your upgrade $$$?
