Yet another new guy...

Hey everyone, add another to your long list of new MINI bretheren (and sisteren). My '05 MCS is on order and should be appearing this June in Washington, DC (Georgetown). I'm psyched to be joining such a fun group and hope to meet everyone at the Dragon next year (if not sooner). Lots of Mini's in the neighborhood! Let's motor!

thanks for the hearty welcome, minilites.... four smiley thumbs, too!

I've been addicted to all things MINI since I put my deposit down on the new wheels. Just one thing.... the car I ordered has the 6 spd Getrag, but how do I shift out of Neutral status in the forum??? First gear would be fine! I just want to get moving forward!

Ask questions get answers, the more questions and comments you make the more you'll move out of the 1st gear section.I think thats how it works.

Welcome Cary! From the FAQ:

Q: What does the Neutral, 1st gear, 2nd gear, etc. seen under my username mean?

A: This is simply an indication of how many times you have posted to the site. There is no "prize" for getting to higher gears but it does help indicate to others on the site how long you have been on the site. Gear designations are as follows:

Gear Number of Posts
1st Gear 11
2nd Gear 51
3rd Gear 151
4th Gear 301
5th Gear 601
6th Gear 1101

Seven more posts, and you'll hit first gear!

It's the number of posts you have. Each certain number of posts is a "mile-marker" so to speak, upping you from neutral to first, first to second, etc, all the way up to 6th.

Welcome! I'm in Arlington. My car is at the port in Southampton, awaiting a shipping vessel. Hopefully it will sail on the Maersk Teal today, and arrive in NY on the 13th. Two to three weeks, I should be driving my MINI!

Check out the DC Metro MINIs website, http://www.dcmetrominis.org/, for a great DC-area MINI club. Welcome to NAM, and glad you have been bitten by the MINI bug!

Thanks, MCSa. I've already poked around on the dcmetrominis site. I will look for you when you cross the Key bridge. Let me know when it arrives, so I can oogle!

And thanks to chirsnl for the info on gears/activity on the site. I will see you guys out there!

Donna - looks like we're having twins (MCS twins, that is)! I don't have a name picked out either. You can't really name it until you see it.
