another Newbie

Another newbie here. Between NAM and Mini2 forums I have really gleaned a lot of information about my prospective MINI. I am currently driving a 2000 Toyota CelicaGT. It's been a great ride albeit it's not a performance automobile. I got the MINI bug several months ago and started researching. Several weeks ago I ordered a MCSC(BRG)(6speed) fully loaded except for navigation and JCW. I'm due to take delivery first week of May. This will be my first ragtop since 1968 when I was driving a 66 MGB while a GI stationed in Germany. Talk about exciting!! I'm 58 years old and one would think that this is my first car---- and I haven't even taken possession yet!! I'm also a MAC and Ipod diehard. I looked carefully at Dension ice-link and at the BMW/Ipod interface. I don't think ice-link has all the bugs worked out yet. Nice try but no cigar, at least to this point.
I also feel that the BMW/Ipod interface is awkward and completely defeats the beautiful Ipod user interface. I don't feel like having to program playable folders BEFORE I go out motoring.
For the past two years I've had an Alpine unit with aux-in in my Celica and used that to run my Ipod. Couldn't be happier with that arrangement. I will elect to do the same in the MINI by installing the aux-in connection.
My thanks to everyone in the forum for providing great information

argentum,

Welcome to NAM Great choice on a MCSC -- no nav is great as it lets you keep the speedometer One of MINIs great features in my opinion.

Where are you located ??

Hiya, argentum! Welcome to NAM! I'm also a "well-seasoned" MINI enthusiast, tee hee, and the passion this little car engenders is just amazing! I, too, am interested in learning where you are located!

Hi Argentum,

I am 52 years old and caught the MINI bug in December. I plan to order a MCSC next year and I can't wait. You are right... it feels like getting your first new car.

I am also an Apple fan like you. Got my fist mac last year and love it.

Regards, Glenn

Thanks for the interest. I live in central Illinois two hours south of Chicago in the twin cities of Bloomington/Normal. I teach in the School of Art at Illinois State University. I am working with the BMW/MINI dealership in Naperville just south of Chicago. I will definitely post pics as soon as I take delivery in May.
Anyone interested in a nice five year old Toyota Celica!!??
Cheers

My last car was '92 Celica Convertible and I LOVED it. But now I have my MINI and I don't even miss it! I almost considered not buying a MINI and restoring my Celica -- that thought lasted about two seconds . . . THANK GOODNESS!

I can't tell you how much I love my MCC!!

I am The Head Macintosh Systems Architect at the University of Pittsburgh.

Mac and Minis go well together, Guess that is why there is the Mac Mini

I think that the relationship between Mac users and MINI owners has been talked about in other threads and in other forums. Bottom line seems to be that there are a lot of Mac users who are also MINI owners. Must be an inherent personality trait that tells us to "Think Different". Running with the herd is the opiate of the masses. Hmmmm Wasn't it Karl marx who said that?
