a dillema, please advise...

hi nam'ers i currently own a 2k jetta glx with 94k miles on it. I also own a 2k3 yamaha yzf 600r bike. i want a MCS ~ 23k with options. before big problems occur with my jetta (sell for about $7k) should i sell it privately along with my bike (~$5k) and put down a $4k deposit to get 1 mini. So the mini would be my only means of transportation and daily driver. It seems like i am giving up a lot to get 1 car. I test drove a 2k5 mini s the other day and it was really fun. what would u guys do?...

$7k (car)
$5k (bike)
$4k (deposit)
--------------
$16k

I gave up a Chevy Avalanche for a 2005 MCS.... I think that should tell ya something... Go for it.

I used to ride a bike, too, but gave it up after a crash. Other motorists just don't see the bikes.

The MCS reminds me very much of my 87 RX7... This machine is a blast to drive.

Good luck with your choice.

the MINI is totally worth it. and if you sell all that stuff, u'll have a lot of money for go-fast toys! it's a great daily driver, track car, weekend toy, chick magnet

although i havent fallen off the bike yet and ive put about 7k miles on it, i can understand maybe that phase of my life is done even though im only 25. its still a hard decision. giving up 2 things that i own to partially pay for something.

Owning a MINI should be worth it! I'm not sure why you have to sell both...to pay for the MINI? Of course if you have driven a MINI and you aren't sure...I don't know what to tell you.

But you are on NAM and I think everyone here will tell you to get the MINI, I know it is the best decision I ever made, okay asside from marrying my husband who supported my MINI purchase .

With a few tweaks, the MCS will corner better than that yzf600 (or any crotch rocket) all day long...honestly. We've proven it time and again on The Dragon

I'd say giving up some baggage for the MINI is well worth it

Cheers,
Ryan

Join the club man. Ditch the donorcycle and get a MINI. You won't regret it.

If you live in Boston and just ride your bike around the city, get rid of it before somebody kills you. If you ride mostly on back roads, keep it. As much fun as driving a Cooper is, it pales in comparison to a motorcycle.

I would have preferred to keep on riding rather than switch to a Cooper, but a woman in a VW bug (in town, at a stoplight) kind of ended my riding career.

A motorcycle in our society of obliviots? Sadly this has become A Very Bad Idea. Try a Cooper S convertible instead - a motorcycle for the sane (and no helmet required).
