Thanks for having me. Working on trying to bring the YouTube car up to my standards. Drove her from GA all the way back to Idaho.
Things I’ve done so far:
New OEM windshield/side mouldings/trim
Full Dash skeleton
JCW Carbon Mirror Caps
Refinished and clear coated the carbon
Replaced glove box
New tires

Great looking car and I too am impressed the quality and type of mods that were already done. Even more impressive; driving it from GA to Idaho! Would shipping it have been more cost effective? Or did you really WANT to drive it that far? I live in the Atlanta area...how did the car make it from Charlotte, NC to GA where you picked it up?

Enjoy the ride!!
For what was done to the car I had to have it. I lusted over this car for 10 years. I can’t tell you how many times I watched the video. I had no choice. COVID was the biggest issues. I couldn’t get anyone to ship it. After 4 companies and getting quoted $2600 for shipping to Salt Lake City UT which is 3 hrs from me I was done. Decided to go get it. Original owner moved to GA for work, moved back to NC I think is how it goes, his friend was storing it in GA in the meantime. Then convinced him to just buy the car. Then I bought it. I’m still in touch with the original owner and builder of the car.
I can relate to lusting after it & the issues with transporting the car interstate.
I had my eye on a 2006 r53 JCW with leather recaros since the very beginning of covid. The car ended up selling but the new owner ended up needing to pay for some surgery. When he advertised the car I still didn't have the money for it :( . When I finally had enough $ the car was no longer for sale.
I ended up messaging the owners phone in case he still had it. Well he did & said if I paid $8,000 I could have it.
I didn't have the chance to drive it to my state. In Western Australia our govt locks the border down if other states have a covid outbreak. Transport was organised then cancelled due to covid. It took 2 months for the car to be trucked 3400km to Perth. I really would have preferred to drive it.
Did you take the dash out just to replace the glove box? I finished installing Bluetooth on the oem stereo this morning and that was difficult enough (dropped 2 screws inside the dash somewhere & they've disappeared to an alternate universe or something). I can only imagine what I would lose if I tried to take the dash out.
The car is amazing I'd watched that same you tube video a few times when I first started looking for a mini. Great colour and it sounds like it is in good hands

Previous owners or someone managed to crack the dash so nothing was holding the left side of the dash to the car. Caused so many rattles it was annoying. I replaced the glove box face due to the handle starting to break. I’m super picky and **** with my cars and want everything perfect.
Beautiful car man.. but imo , the underhood eyeballs gotta go.. they just don't fit it..
when you pop the hood in your walk around video and say " everything has been bored out ," are you implying its got a ported head , ported intake abd ported ic horns ??? Because I gotta admit , that porting mod has helped my car SO MUCH..having a fully ported intake track , it's allowing the use of a 19% pulley at 19psi max and the stock ic abd iats are far from being overwhelmed.. it is winter though so let's see how it does come summer..hoping I'm not gonna need an ic upgrade too..
2nd question. Is that an alta pass through ic on your car ??
