New Mini Owner, coolant leak already !

Just got a 2007 Mini hatch, base model R56 with an N12 engine. Thermostat was supposedly bad so I bought a new housing from the local Mini dealer. I replaced the bad one but coolant is leaking from the housing/tube joint were the clip goes. I guessed that I installed the clip wrong. Looking more closely at this joint it looks like the groove for the clip is still outside of the tube ! Can this be possible ?

Check out this here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-question.html

You have to make sure the install is correct. Thats half of the problems.

Thanks for the advice, I went to auto parts store and bought some silicone grease. I took housing off again, applied grease to o-ring, re-mounted the housing. Then came the fun part, inserting the clip properly ! After almost an hour and a trip to the store for long needle nose pliers I got it on properly. The tube was not short like I thought. I think the lack of silicone grease was cause of the leak. Mini runs great now and no leak 😃
