The "Miststück"

Hi guy´s, greetings from good old germany.
This MINI is called "Miststück". A german polite word for a b***h.
Why, because the MINI was like one.
But now, it´s domesticated. Slowly. But when is back on road, the old devil comes back.

After long painful time, with complete overhaul of engine, are lots of parts also changed.
Engine ist engineered in Stage 3, by Dr. Krumm in near Colone. A really good mechanical tuner.

Nice, you have some rare Gen 1 MINI parts in it. Glad to see the old Euro Recaro seats. CF trim and dash. Euro cubby and the Gen2 JCW BBKs on the Gen 1. I have those also on my R52.

The custom screen was created by a guy in Germany. He designed the pic out of my wishes incl. shadows, and programmed it in Firmware.

A fulfill service. Send me a PM and I’ll ask him if I‘m allowed to share his contact.

BTW
you can find howto‘s in I-Net.

Thx, I'm going to research this now and look into it, I've seen adapters that will plug into it to run a video source or Bluetooth mirror your phone and stuff ..I've been considering that option as I only use that center thing for my mileage and it would be awesome for me to be able to display YouTube vids n stuff on it for my daughter or at car meets.

Toolset for changing MK IV Startup Picture

Hi guy and gals, i'm the german guy metioned by flingart just berfore.
I would like to share the toolset and instructions with you for free. Because i got benefits from this site in the past. So this is a chance to give something back.
Unfortunately i've not enough time right know, to translate the step by step guide from german to english language. But perhaps somebody will do in the future.
This Step by Step instructions is a detailed guide on how to change your startup splash screen in MK IV navigational system.

Some fast suggestions:
This only works with MK IV Nav Systems. Used in Mini R53 and some BMW Cars. If you Cars needs the "High" Map DVDs. It's an MK IV. Others wont't work.
Picture Dimensions limited to 400 x 234 px on BMW Cars and 400 x 240 on Mini.
Picture must have GIF File Format with max 256 Colors, no transparency. You can use Photoshop or Gimp for example to make suitable picture files.
Picture must not have filesize over 50 kb. Just reduce Colors to 128 or 64 to reduce filesize if needed. I don't remember the max. value but it should be around 50-80 kb for the splash Logo.
MK IV Navi is very stable. So if you only get blank splash after installation. There is something wrong with your picture. Just give another try. Limit is only your amount on blank CD Media. Because you will have to burn another firmware CD for every change.
By the way: EVERY Picture in MK IV system can be replaced with this toolset.

Files Included in ZIP:
1. Some example Splash logos for BMW and MINI
2. navtweak Tool for Picture extraction and replacement from firmware.
3. Freeware version of UltraIso used to take and replace navboot file from firmware ISO. Also used to burn the new firmware cd.
4. runtime needed to install on windows if navtreak tool won't start.
5. Step by Step Guide in German language only . Looking forward to translate in the future

You will also need:
V32 Firmware. This is last official Firmware Version from BMW for MK IV Navis. Because it it copyright protected i will not share this here. You can find it very easily on the web. Just do a search for MK IV V32 ISO or something like that. For MK IV you will find the file navboot in /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw . This is where all picture Data is located.

I hope all this can be helpful!
Perhaps someone would like to give a try to translate the Instructions pdf to englisch language? Just share it here after that.
Download Toolset from OneDrive
